Student answer (Band 6.0)
Smoking is one of the main reasons for air pollution and increasing rate of deaths in every region. To stop people from smoking is not an easy task but it can be control by taking some more measures. Some individuals say that it must be illegal in public areas and others say some other methods are needed.
In many countries, smoking is legal in public areas. Every age group can be seen in these areas, and this practice leaves a negative impact on their mind. Some individuals get influenced and start to smoke. If authorities make it illegal at public areas, then it could be control and many youngsters can be prevent from
Vapours.
On the other hand, more measures are important to be taken as well. People don’t take these warnings and boards seriously and continue to smog. First initiative could be introducing new cameras around the parks and streets so that authorities can watch who is smoking and charge them fines accordingly. Another initiative could be smoke detectors, which makes it more easier to find individuals and make them to take actions on folks. A strict action must be taken against stores and people who are engaged in exchanging these products and services.
In my opinion, local authorities should take an action against the stores and people so that they can set an example for others as well. Some educational campaigns should be startex to make people aware about the consequences of vapours.
In conclusion, only banning it from public areas is not enough. Other measures must be taken so that new generation doesn’t get influenced by these practices.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention banning smoking in public and suggest surveillance or fines, the arguments lack depth and specific examples. For instance, the suggestion of 'cameras' and 'smoke detectors' is a bit superficial. To reach a higher band, you should elaborate on why these measures would be effective or discuss the potential challenges of implementing them. The position is clear throughout, but the supporting arguments could be more thoroughly explored to demonstrate a more sophisticated understanding of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices like 'On the other hand' and 'In conclusion' to transition between ideas. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and the connection between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition from discussing public bans to surveillance measures feels a bit abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the use of 'these products' without a clear antecedent. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear central theme would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to discuss the topic, but there are several instances of inaccurate word choice and word formation. For example, you use 'smog' instead of 'smoke' as a verb, and 'vapours' is used in a context that does not quite fit the standard collocation for cigarette smoke. There are also some minor spelling and usage errors, such as 'startex' instead of 'started'. While your meaning is generally clear, the lack of precision in vocabulary prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Using more precise terminology related to public health and policy would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'it can be control' (should be 'controlled'), 'can be prevent' (should be 'prevented'), and 'makes it more easier' (should be 'makes it easier'). Subject-verb agreement and passive voice construction are areas that need attention. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to lower the score. Focusing on consistent verb forms and avoiding redundant comparative structures like 'more easier' will help improve your accuracy.
