Student answer (Band 5.0)

In this contemary era , certain individual think that make smoking illega at public area is greates way to reduce it. However, other believe that this matter needs lot more just this one thing is not enough. According to me government needs many more way to reduce it and i will discussed this both sides in next paragarphs.

To begin with, if smoking at public places is make illegal it is benefits because now days smoking at public place trend is increasing day by day due to this other people also face difficulties wehn they go out like park , buses shops and other that kind of place because people who do smoking start at any place and it make other uncomfortable and also dangerous for health.

On the other side, government needs better solution for solve this problem. Firstly, awarenees camps local authority should aware people about drawbackes of smoking because many people do not have idea about how harmful is smoking for their health so if awareness comps are organized and tell people about harms o f smoking than they star thinking about their health. Secondly, make other ruels like if anybody smok at public area they need to pay huge amount of fine this is also helpful way to freduce smoking at public area. Moreover, smoking is affortable anyone can easily affort this and do smoking so if government incerease price of that iteam than people think lot after doing this. Not only this but also, main reason of smoking is strees mostly people who fell streesed start smoking so it is responsiability of family they should talk to each other and try to spend time with each other so person feel better.

To conclude, smoking is bigest proble in today world so making smoking illegal is not enough other steps also needed to overcome this problem.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views on public smoking bans and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and attempt to cover both perspectives, such as the public health concerns and the need for extra measures like awareness campaigns, taxation, and family support. However, the development of ideas remains quite limited and superficial due to simple expression and lack of extended argumentation. For instance, the point about stress and family responsibility is introduced but lacks elaboration. This places the response comfortably at Band 5.0, as it addresses the task and presents a clear position, but the ideas are under-developed and lack depth.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response shows a basic organizational structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, progression is frequently disrupted by poor cohesive ties and mechanical linking phrases, such as 'To begin with', 'On the other side', and 'Moreover'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the main body paragraph is overly long and crams multiple disparate ideas together without proper logical transitions, making the text heavy to navigate. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as 'this one thing' and 'this both sides'. These features align with the Band 5 descriptors, where organisation is present but overall progression is lacking and cohesive devices are inadequate or inaccurate.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently impeded by severe spelling and word-choice errors. Examples of awkward word choice and spelling errors include 'contemary' for contemporary, 'illega' for illegal, 'awarenees' for awareness, 'compse' for camps, 'ruels' for rules, 'affortable' for affordable, and 'proble' for problem. The student attempts less common vocabulary such as 'awareness camps' and 'responsible', but these are undermined by persistent lexical inaccuracies. The range of vocabulary is minimally adequate for the task, but frequent errors place this performance at a Band 4.5, which rounds to Band 5.0 based on standard descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The student demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and poorly connected clauses. Complex sentence attempts are frequently faulty, plagued by run-on sentences and missing punctuation or conjunctions (e.g., 'According to me government needs many more way to reduce it and i will discussed this both sides in next paragarphs'). There are frequent errors in verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and articles (e.g., 'if smoking at public places is make illegal', 'people who do smoking', 'most people who fell streesed start smoking'). These errors cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and reflect the Band 4 to Band 5 threshold, meriting a Band 4.5, which translates to a Band 4.5 score.
