Student answer (Band 5.0)

nowdays peoples often argue about ban smoking in public places but some peoples say that this is not sufficient we require more ways i partially agree with both views because i think we should take more other methods to ban smoking in public places.

on one hand, few peoles believe that by making smoking illegal in common areas will decreases its consumption.i believe that by doing this we can stop most of the people who will smoke. however, by taking this kind of step by will get more aware and maybe they will stop smoking. for example, in my hometown government have take a iniative to stop smoking is whoever will smoke in public they have to pay a fine of $500 which i think is a very good idea to ban smoke. moreover, people it will benefit our enviroment also and people health to.

on the other hand, few people believe that this is not enough for stop smoking which i think more ways to stop smoking is that we can do rallys and make advertisement and post a video on social media which will do more work instead of ban. for example nowdays have sticker on the packets of ciggerets which i think is good step towards stop its consumpution.

conclusion

in conclusion in i agree with both the views but i belive that second idea is the best one from the both of them. therefore, i agree with this view only to certain extent.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses both views regarding banning smoking in public places and whether additional measures are required, and a personal position is stated, albeit somewhat confusingly at the end where you mention you agree with the second view only to a certain extent despite previously stating you partially agreed with both. Furthermore, the length requirement of 250 words is not met as the text contains only 247 words. The ideas presented are limited and somewhat under-developed. For instance, the discussion on fines and social media campaigns is introduced briefly without sufficient extension or detailed support, keeping the response at a partial level of task fulfilment.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some basic organisation with paragraph breaks representing an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, though the conclusion is somewhat repetitive and disjointed. Cohesive devices are used, but they are frequently repetitive, mechanical, or inaccurate, such as starting multiple sentences and clauses with phrases like 'by doing this' and 'on the other hand'. Referencing is at times unclear, and there is a lack of smooth overall progression from one idea to the next, which impacts the overall readability and logical flow of the argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. There are noticeable errors in word form, spelling, and word choice that cause some difficulty for the reader, such as writing 'nowdays peoples' instead of 'Nowadays, people', 'ciggerets' instead of 'cigarettes', and 'iniative' instead of 'initiative'. The range of vocabulary is restricted, and attempts to use less common terms often result in awkward phrasing or collocation errors, such as 'do more work instead of ban' and 'benefit our enviroment also and people health to'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, these are frequently faulty and grammatically inaccurate. There are frequent errors in verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and basic punctuation, such as missing capitalisation at the beginnings of sentences and run-on sentences lacking appropriate punctuation. Examples include 'government have take a iniative to stop smoking is whoever will smoke' and 'more ways to stop smoking is that we can do rallys', which contain multiple grammatical errors that require effort from the reader to interpret.
