Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years, smoking has become widely discussed issue. Some people think that the good approach to discourage smoking is illegal especially in the public area, while others hold different view. In the upcomimg paragraphs, I will discuss both sides, and give my own prosepective.

To begin with, smoking is illegal in public place. So, people support this view. This is because, smoking is not only harmfull for consumer but also active consumer. As many women who are pregant when they go public place, smoker relase smoke in air which also put bad impact on unborn child. As a result, it is not good for pregant women. Apart from it, it is also not good for health when consumer do smoking. Due to which, they will sufer from many chronic disease such as kindey failure and liver, cancer. Consquenately, smoking should banned in public area.

Another important reasons is that discourage smoking in public placees is not enough and other measures are needed. Firstly, the offical autorities ought to organize campus to know about its bad consequence and people should join them, how to save their life from it. School should also provide semminer about the awareness from smoking. As a result, in future children will defintaly stay away from smoking and also tells their parents and relative about bad effect of smoking.

In conclusion, I believe that organize semminer aware about smoking bad effect on others and consumer is best approach to deal with smoking insteady of discourage smoking is illegal in public place.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and give a preference in the conclusion: you argue that public smoking restrictions protect others, while education and seminars can discourage smoking more broadly. The pregnancy example is relevant and helps explain the harm of second-hand smoke. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The first view is presented mainly as a claim that smoking in public is harmful, without explaining how a ban would discourage smoking or giving a concrete example of its effect. The proposed campaigns and school seminars are also listed rather than explained in detail. Your final position favours education, but it is not fully clear whether you support public-place restrictions alongside these measures or instead of them. State this relationship clearly and develop each view with a specific reason or example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Another important reasons,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the discussion. The main ideas are generally grouped appropriately, and the reader can follow the broad contrast between restrictions and education. However, some links are mechanical or unclear. For example, “So, people support this view” does not clearly connect the preceding claim to its reason, and “Due to which” creates an awkward link to the health effects. The conclusion also repeats the education point without clearly tying it back to both sides. Use clearer cause-and-effect links and refer explicitly to the relationship between the two measures.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “public place,” “unborn child,” “chronic disease,” and “awareness,” so the subject is identifiable. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, word-form, and spelling problems make parts of the response difficult to understand. Examples include “active consumer” where you appear to mean people exposed to smoke, “organize campus” for awareness campaigns, and “seminner aware about smoking bad effect.” There are also repeated spelling errors such as “harmfull,” “pregant,” and “defintaly.” Build a more accurate set of phrases for discussing second-hand smoke, public bans, and prevention campaigns, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise vocabulary would make your reasons clearer and less repetitive.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including a reason clause beginning “This is because” and a result clause beginning “As a result.” This shows some effort to connect ideas rather than relying entirely on short statements. However, the range is limited, and errors in sentence construction, articles, agreement, and verb forms occur often enough to make some sentences hard to follow. For example, “smoking should banned” needs a passive verb form, while “Another important reasons is” has a number-agreement problem. In “people should join them, how to save their life,” the clause structure is unclear. Practise accurate passive forms and complete clauses, and check singular/plural agreement and articles when editing.
