Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some individuals say that to make smoking illegal in public places is the appropriate way to discourage smoking. Other people say that it is not enough to prevent it. There should also be needed other measures. This essay will discuss both the views and my opinion.
It is the good step to discourage smoking in the public places. Firstly, some people suffers from ashtma and breathing problems therefore, it is good steps for them to reduce smoking in public places. Secondly, with people who addicted with illegal drugs or smoking have no sense of act or unable to thinking what they have done. The rules againt smoking in public places should be implement and empossed penalties and fine who violates these rules. For illustration, a person violates the rules to do smoking in public places should be punished.
On the other hand, to prevent smoking in public places are not enough and there should be needed other measures. Moreover, through the awareness camps and give knowledge about health to the people and tell about the consequences pf using smoking. Furthermore, with the help of articles, newspaper, consequences of health problems regarding smoking can also aware the people. For instance, WHO reports that the smoking is the result of increasing high level of oral cancer, ashtma and breathing problems.
In my opinion the government should implement strict laws againt smoking because it is illegal in public places therefore public suffered health problems due to it. It is also the individual's duty to not use it.
In consequences, both the government are responsible for illegal smoking because there are lack of strict laws and the indivuals are not followed it properly because of corruption or high approach of leaders. It should be prevent in public places and people should also be awared by awareness camps and acts.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views by supporting restrictions in public places and mentioning awareness campaigns, health education, and media articles as additional measures. Your opinion is also present: you favour strict government laws while recognising individual responsibility. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The point about people with asthma is relevant, but the claim that people who smoke or use drugs “have no sense of act” is unclear and does not explain how a public ban discourages smoking. The additional measures are listed rather than explained, and the conclusion introduces corruption and leaders’ influence without establishing their relevance. Develop fewer points with clearer reasoning and specific, relevant examples so the position and support are more convincing and consistent.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a concluding paragraph. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “On the other hand,” and “Moreover” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Moreover” follows a sentence that already introduces other measures, while the relationship between the final claims about corruption and smoking laws is difficult to follow. Some sentences also repeat the same point about public smoking and health effects rather than advancing the argument. Use clearer links between each claim and its explanation, and make the conclusion summarise the two main arguments without introducing a new, unexplained issue.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “illegal in public places,” “penalties,” “awareness camps,” “consequences,” and “oral cancer.” This gives the reader a basic understanding of the subject. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make parts difficult to interpret, such as “sense of act,” “high level of oral cancer,” and “high approach of leaders.” Spelling errors, including “ashtma,” “againt,” and “empossed,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise expressions and check spelling carefully. For example, explain that smoking bans protect non-smokers from second-hand smoke, and describe public education as raising awareness of the health risks rather than simply “give knowledge.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause in “because it is illegal in public places” and a relative clause in “who violates these rules.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “some people suffers,” “the rules … should be implement,” and “to prevent smoking in public places are not enough.” The sentence beginning “Moreover, through the awareness camps” is also incomplete because it lacks a clear main clause. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and verb forms. More accurate control of these patterns would make your ideas easier to understand.
