Student answer (Band 5.0)

It has been universally accepted that problem of smoking is surging at an alarming rate. The problem of smoking at public places is bringing a state of depression among the people and in economy too. While Some individuals have the view that it is not enough to prohibit them not to smoke in public area only, others hold view that more regulations should be implemented to reduce the trend of smoking in population. I comletely agree with this statement due to following reasons. There many reasons for disadvantages of smoking, main reason is that it is dangerous to health. When a person smokes, this effects not only to his lungs but almost whole body gradually, especially when a person smokes at public place, smoke of cigerate also effect the people in surounding area.It is not justify one's bad habit is creating great problem for others. Although, government has banned this act of smoking in public spot but some people expect more than that.In addition, it is loss to persons and state economically, that income is important for person's family but also for country.in addition, strict regulations by the government shoul be implemented on import of cigrates. There are numbers of measures could be taken by government to allviate this problem. Firstly, public awareness is important, for this government can show advertisement on televisions and internet, which informe the people smoking negetive effects and how cigerate effects the body through vedio.. in conclusion, solving a global issue is not not easy but with the joint efforts of the people and state, a control can be established over this. I believe that every one should come forward to mitigate this problem.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear general view that smoking should be controlled through measures beyond restrictions in public places, and you mention relevant concerns such as harm to bystanders, health, and public awareness. However, the discussion of both views is incomplete: the case for making smoking illegal in public places is not explained as a distinct argument, and the response does not clearly compare that measure with additional policies. Several points, including the economic cost and cigarette-import restrictions, are introduced but not supported with specific reasoning or examples. The conclusion repeats a broad call for joint efforts rather than summarising your position on which measures are most effective. Develop each side with a reason and an example, then state your view consistently.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation: the response moves from an introduction to reasons, then possible measures and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Although,” “In addition,” “Firstly,” and “in conclusion” help signal these stages. However, the overall progression is not clear because several ideas are crowded into one long paragraph, while the measures paragraph is very brief and does not connect fully to the discussion of the two views. Some transitions are repetitive or awkward, and references such as “this” and “that income” are not always clear. Use separate paragraphs for each view and for your own position, and make each paragraph develop one central point in a logical sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “public awareness,” “strict regulations,” “alleviate this problem,” and “mitigate this problem,” which shows some range beyond basic wording. However, the vocabulary is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors make parts difficult to read, such as “cigerate,” “surounding,” “negetive effects,” and “a state of depression among the people and in economy.” Some expressions are also imprecise: “loss to persons and state economically” does not clearly explain the economic impact, and “prohibit them not to smoke” is unnatural. Choose accurate, natural phrases and check spelling carefully; precise terms such as “second-hand smoke” and “health risks” would make the argument clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer structures, for example, “While some individuals have the view…, others hold view…” and the sentence beginning “Although, government has banned…”. However, the range remains limited, and complex sentences are often faulty. Frequent errors in articles, agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction can make meaning difficult to follow: “There many reasons,” “this effects not only to his lungs,” and “which informe the people” are examples. Punctuation and spacing also need attention, particularly where sentences run together or commas are misplaced. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “although,” “because,” and “which.”
