Student answer (Band 6.5)
A lot of people believe that eating animal flesh is not good as it is cruel for wildlife. Although eating meat has its own benefits. I am partially agree with this phenomenon and I would explain the reasons in the following paragraphs.
To begin with the benefits of eating meat is that it has protein and nutrients that is good for human health and it is more affordable as compared to some vegetables. For instance, one article was mentioned in “The Tribune” stated that majority of individuals tend to consume meat are healthier and their immune system is stronger. Therefore, consumption of meat is a healthy choice in terms of getting all the nutrients and proteins which different type of meat contains.
On the other hand, eating meat is definitely brutal as it has adverse ramifications. To elaborate it, some animals are not kept in the place where they get proper care and vaccine protection in order to stay healthy and disease free. Hence, when these animals meat is sold at the market which contains poisonous chemicals which is detrimental to human health plus wildlife health too. Hence, killing animals for the human benefit has adverse consequences. To epitome, In Africa, people bought meat from a local market and they got sick because the animal had ailments.
To summarize this, consumption of animal meat has pros and cons on humans health. Majority of people prefer meat over the organic food as it is more nutritious and healthy choice, however eating animal meat is not always a good choice as it has above mentioned ramifications.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the nutritional benefits of meat and the ethical concerns regarding animal welfare. You clearly state your position as 'partially agree' in the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'poisonous chemicals' in meat is a strong point but lacks sufficient explanation or logical connection to the broader ethical debate. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed argument that directly supports your stance. While you cover both sides, the conclusion could be more decisive in summarizing why you hold a balanced view, rather than simply restating the pros and cons.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with,' 'On the other hand,' and 'To summarize this.' However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly repetitive. Additionally, some transitions between sentences are abrupt, such as the jump from discussing animal welfare to the specific example in Africa. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that the progression of ideas within paragraphs is smoother. Referencing could also be improved to avoid repetitive phrasing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'adverse ramifications,' 'detrimental,' and 'nutritious.' However, there are instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'eating animal flesh' (which sounds unnatural in this context) and 'To epitome' (which is an incorrect usage of the word 'epitome'). Some phrases are also slightly repetitive. To improve, focus on learning collocations—words that naturally go together—and ensure you are using academic vocabulary in the correct context. Expanding your range of synonyms will also help you avoid repeating the same words throughout the essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('one article was mentioned... stated that majority of individuals tend to consume meat are healthier') and article usage errors. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some awkward phrasings that occasionally impede the flow of reading. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Proofreading for common errors like these will significantly enhance the clarity and professional tone of your writing.
