Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both the ethical concerns regarding animal welfare and the nutritional arguments for meat consumption. You clearly state your position in the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the points about industrial farming are relevant, the claim that diseases like Covid-19 originated from meat consumption is factually unsupported and detracts from the strength of your argument. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting examples are accurate and logically linked to your main points. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and could be more impactful by synthesising your arguments rather than just restating them.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'Nevertheless' to transition between ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly disrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'In results' or 'this let’s to kill'. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as 'this' in the final paragraph, which makes the connection between sentences less smooth. Improving the variety and precision of your linking words will help create a more natural flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'propensity', 'consumption', and 'unethical'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'serves extended amount of protein', 'ingesting vaccines', and 'fight with the any diseases'. These errors occasionally make the meaning slightly unclear. To improve, focus on learning common collocations (e.g., 'provides a significant amount of protein' rather than 'serves extended amount'). While you attempt to use more sophisticated vocabulary, the inaccuracies prevent the response from reaching a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, they are frequently marred by grammatical errors, such as 'this helps to repairs', 'chemicals which was given to be animals', and 'diseases like chickungunya and Covid -19 has a raised'. These errors are frequent and sometimes distract the reader, although they do not completely impede communication. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions. Focusing on proofreading for these basic errors will significantly improve your score.
