Student answer (Band 6.0)

Undoubtedly, meat is a regular part of the humans' diet that provides essential nutrients to body. However, many are of the opinion that raising animals to meet dietary requirements is unethical, so people should stop eating meat. Although non-vegetarian food is rich in nutrients, I believe that killing animals for selfish purposes should be stopped.

There are several reasons why meat consumption needs to be stopped. The most significant one is that animals has equal rights to live, as they are also beautiful creation of god who can feel the same emotions and pain as humans do. They add diversity to the nature, which makes the world more beautiful. Therefore raising animals for personal use hurt animals sentiments and could affects the diversity. Another important reason is that, many animals species are critically endangered or may at risk of extinction since overexploitation of some animals are disappeared; Passanger peigon, for instance, commercial hunting for meat was the major cause of its extinction, along with habitat loss.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 166 words. This significantly impacts the development of the argument, as the essay is cut off abruptly after only two paragraphs. While a clear position is established in the introduction, the lack of a conclusion and the limited development of ideas mean the task is only partially addressed. To improve, you must expand your arguments with more detailed examples and ensure you provide a full conclusion that summarises your main points and restates your position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay shows a basic level of organization with clear paragraphing. You use some cohesive devices such as 'However', 'Although', and 'Therefore' to link ideas. However, the progression is interrupted by the premature ending of the text. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraph is logical, but the overall structure is incomplete. To achieve a higher score, ensure you use a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect sentences and paragraphs more fluidly, and always include a concluding paragraph to provide a sense of closure.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'essential nutrients', 'unethical', 'critically endangered', and 'overexploitation'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'hurt animals sentiments' (should be 'hurt animals' sentiments') and 'overexploitation of some animals are disappeared' (which is grammatically and lexically awkward). The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, but it lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Focus on using more precise collocations and checking for word-form accuracy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow, such as 'animals has equal rights' (subject-verb agreement), 'beautiful creation of god' (missing article), and 'could affects' (incorrect modal verb form). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the sentence construction often feels slightly unnatural. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct usage of articles and modal verbs. Increasing your control over complex sentence structures will also help improve your score.
