Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is often said that rearing animals for people's consumption is brutal that consuming meat must be stopped. I disagree with this approach because there are many several reason such measures would benefit both the human and animal.

One important reason of eating animal is that human being need them to survive. It is not all the animal that should be eaten but the ones good for consumption added some nutrients to people's lives. For instance, meat provides protein which is very important to human's life and survival.

Another significant factor is that the nature created some of the animal for the purpose of consumption by human. If people fail to eat them they would be too many of them which might be harmful to the environment and also to the people. Beyond being the purpose for consumption, it also provides employment opportunities for people who enjoy taking care or raising animals.

In conclusion, in my opinion I believe people should encourage to eat meats for the nutritional value it gives for human survival. Moreover, the offer the company rearing animals gives to people who loves raising and seeing them grow.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against the idea that meat consumption should be banned. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which severely limits the depth of the arguments. The ideas presented—nutritional value and economic benefits—are relevant but remain underdeveloped. Because the response is only 191 words, it fails to provide the necessary elaboration and supporting examples required for a higher band score. To improve, you must expand on your points with more detailed explanations and specific, real-world examples to meet the length requirement and fully develop your position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'One important reason', 'Another significant factor', and 'In conclusion' to signal the transition between ideas. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat mechanical, and the use of cohesive devices is limited. Some sentences lack smooth transitions, making the flow feel slightly disjointed. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect your ideas more naturally and ensure that your paragraphing is supported by more substantial content.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your main points clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'nutritional value', 'consumption', and 'employment opportunities'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'rearing animals for people's consumption is brutal' and 'the offer the company rearing animals gives'. There is little evidence of less common or sophisticated vocabulary. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and a wider range of academic vocabulary to convey your ideas with greater nuance.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'there are many several reason', 'human being need them', and 'people should encourage to eat'. Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your sentence structures are grammatically sound.
