Student answer (Band 5.0)
In recent times, it is believed that people should never eat meat because raising animals to be eaten by humans is cruel.
In my opinion, I disagree with this.
Some animals such as sheeps, goats and cattles are reared, killed and sold by some farmers. The meat of these animals serve as nourishment to our body. For example, the beef provides proteins which helps to repair worn out tissues in the body, thus enhances the quality of life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, which severely limits the development of your ideas. While you state a clear position, the essay is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence. The arguments regarding nutritional value and medical research are relevant, but they lack sufficient depth and supporting evidence due to the unfinished nature of the text. To improve, you must ensure you fully develop your points and provide a complete conclusion. The failure to meet the minimum length requirement is a major constraint on your score for this criterion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay shows a basic attempt at logical organization with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a concluding sentence. However, the abrupt ending disrupts the overall flow and coherence of the piece. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore' and 'For instance' to link ideas, but the limited length makes it difficult to assess your ability to manage paragraphing and cohesion effectively. To improve, focus on completing your thoughts and ensuring that each paragraph transitions smoothly into the next, leading to a fully realized conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your ideas, such as 'nourishment', 'efficacy', and 'clinical trials'. However, there are some errors in word choice and pluralization, such as 'sheeps' (should be 'sheep') and 'cattles' (should be 'cattle'). Additionally, the phrase 'adverse drugs reactions' is slightly inaccurate. While your vocabulary is adequate for basic communication, you need to use more precise terminology and ensure correct plural forms to reach a higher band. Expanding your range of academic collocations will also help improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'the beef provides proteins which helps' (should be 'help' to agree with 'proteins') and 'its was safe' (should be 'it was safe'). The incomplete sentence at the end also impacts the grammatical integrity of the text. While your meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors and the lack of a complete structure prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and proofreading for basic mechanical errors.
