Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. The essay is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence in the second body paragraph. While you state your position clearly in the introduction, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack logical depth. For instance, the claim that eating meat prevents 'accidents on roads' is illogical and lacks supporting evidence. To improve, ensure you complete the essay structure and provide coherent, well-reasoned arguments that directly address the prompt's ethical concerns regarding animal welfare.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay shows some attempt at logical organization, using an introduction and body paragraphs. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'consequently' and 'although', but they are sometimes used incorrectly or in a mechanical fashion. Paragraphing is present, but the second body paragraph is unfinished, which disrupts the overall flow. To improve, focus on using transition signals more naturally and ensure each paragraph contains a fully developed main idea supported by relevant examples.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'controversial debate emerged' and 'grown for fulfill the food need'. You rely on simple, repetitive vocabulary like 'good source' and 'need'. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and topic-specific terminology related to ethics, nutrition, and agriculture. Avoid word-choice errors like 'eat flesh' which sounds unnatural in this context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'a essential need', 'humans ought to be eat', and 'accidents will be happen'. There is a lack of control over complex sentence structures, and many sentences are simple or contain errors in verb tense and article usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of modal verbs. Proofreading for common errors like missing articles or incorrect verb forms will help improve your accuracy.
