Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against the statement. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. While you mention health benefits and historical context, the arguments are not fully extended. Furthermore, the response falls just short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which necessitates a penalty. To improve, ensure you provide more detailed examples and fully explore the implications of your arguments to meet the length requirement and demonstrate a more sophisticated level of critical thinking.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'For instance', 'Another reason'). There are also issues with referencing; for example, in the second paragraph, the phrase 'one of these importance' is unclear. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your pronouns and references clearly point back to the intended nouns to improve the flow between sentences and paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You rely on basic terms like 'importance' and 'rearing' repeatedly. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'human not raise animals' and 'the long history factor'. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to ethics, nutrition, and agriculture. Using synonyms and more precise academic phrasing will help you convey your ideas with greater clarity and sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'human not raise animals' (missing auxiliary/verb form), 'For centuries ago' (incorrect preposition usage), and 'thats serves them a a means' (spelling and article errors). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly in the conclusion. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and proofreading for basic sentence construction errors to ensure your writing is more accurate.
