Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is a debate in society that individuals should be purely vegetarian because animals are not for human consumption. This essay completely agrees with this viewpoint because consumption of animals effect eco system and human can survive without eating meat.
First and foremost, everyone has right to live and end up according to nature. Living creatures have their own life cycle from birth to death, and every other animal is dependent on each other for food. If human have justice system, and have right to live, so animals have their own families too. To feed their family members, they have to tackle challenges with nature or predators. Therefore, people should not interfere with eco-system. For example, if human keep on consuming fishes, it will effect whole sea life this is why in some area fishing is prohibited.
Moreover, I think individuals have range of food which they can consume and live better life. To explain, all of the vegetables have vital ingredients which are necessary for proper human body growth, consequently it is not mandatory to eat meat for survival such as protein form chickpeas, whole grains, carbs from bananas, and other vegetarian food. Many vegan supporters claim that killing animals for food is cruel, while human have variety of vegetarian food to eat.
To conclude, it is undeniable that people should not eat meat this is because killing animals for own food can disrupt the eco system, while individuals can survive with consuming vegetarian food. Personally, I believe human should avoid consuming animals rather choose to be vegetarian.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of vegetarianism. The ideas are relevant, focusing on animal rights and nutritional viability. However, the development is somewhat limited. The argument regarding the 'eco-system' is repetitive and lacks specific, well-explained examples; for instance, the mention of fishing is a bit vague. To reach a higher band, you should provide more nuanced arguments or deeper analysis of the ethical and environmental implications. The conclusion restates the position clearly, but the overall depth of the essay remains at a mid-level, as the arguments are somewhat generalized rather than fully explored.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude' are used to signal the structure. However, some transitions are mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the phrase 'end up according to nature', which is confusing. Additionally, the flow between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother, as some ideas feel slightly disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents would enhance the cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their opinion clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'consumption', 'eco-system', and 'nutritional' (implied). However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'effect eco system' (should be 'affect the ecosystem') and 'end up according to nature', which is not a standard English expression. The range is somewhat limited, and the repetition of basic words like 'food' and 'eat' suggests a need for more varied synonyms and more precise academic terminology to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the fluency of the text. Examples include missing articles ('the eco-system', 'the human body'), subject-verb agreement issues ('human can survive', 'it will effect'), and awkward phrasing ('human have justice system'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some run-on sentences and missing commas that hinder readability. To improve, focus on mastering article usage, subject-verb agreement, and refining complex sentence structures to ensure they are error-free.
