Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some people argue that individuals should never consume meat as it impacts the survival of animals. although, eating meat has so many benefits such as it is good source of protein, while i strongly disagree with this statement as there are many other alternatives available in the market and it is not right to raise animals just for own contentment.

It is true that people should not include non-vegetarian things in their diet. Firstly, because there are so many other alternatives of meat available in the market which provides similar nutrition as meat so there is no point of killing innocent animals. For example, a recent study showed that a vegan meat available in the market has less calories and more benefits in contrast to flesh of animals. Therefore, individuals should avoid eating meat and choose other options provided in the stores.

Secondly, it is not good for the environment in a long term. To explain it further, many species are becoming endangered and extinct. As hunting large number of animals each day leads to disturbance in food chain which leads to there extinction. For instance, A number of pigs has reduced to 30 percent in many countries in regard to overconsumption of meat.

Finally, eating meat on regular basis can also impact health and cause many health related problems. In addition, meat available in the market is not fresh and vendors usually raise animals by injections and many other medications to make them more presentable which often impacts the condition of body.

In conclusion, Although eating meat would be beneficial for people while, i strongly disagree with this because killing animals is not good for enviornment as well as individu

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against meat consumption. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. While the first body paragraph provides a relevant argument regarding alternatives, the subsequent points regarding environmental impact and health are somewhat under-developed and rely on questionable claims, such as the specific statistic about pigs. The conclusion is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence, which prevents a full summary of the argument. To improve, ensure that each paragraph fully explores a single main idea with logical support and ensure the essay is brought to a complete, coherent conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In addition', but they are sometimes used mechanically. There are issues with sentence-level cohesion, particularly in the introduction where the transition 'although' is used incorrectly at the start of a clause. Furthermore, the abrupt ending of the essay significantly impacts the overall coherence, as the final thought is left unfinished. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring a complete, well-structured conclusion would raise the score for this criterion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their opinion clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'contentment' and 'endangered', but word choice is occasionally imprecise, for example, using 'non-vegetarian things' instead of 'meat products' or 'animal-based foods'. There are also some minor spelling errors like 'enviornment'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and academic vocabulary, and ensure that word forms are used correctly in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with punctuation, capitalization (e.g., 'i' instead of 'I'), and subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'A number of pigs has reduced'). The use of conjunctions is often faulty, such as the structure 'Although... while' in the conclusion. These errors do not generally impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic errors and refining the use of complex sentence structures will help improve accuracy.
