Student answer (Band 5.0)

A significant number of people hold the perception that people should stop eating meat because it is cruel to raise animals for human consumption. Indeed to my mind, I entirely advocate this view because killing animals for our taste is very bad and it is very cruel for innocents animals. Every aspect of the prompt will be addressed with strong justification and relevant exemplification subsequently.

Predominantly ,consumed animals product is harmful to our nature is a factor worth considering. This is undoubtedly due the fact that it will affect animal species to extint because of maximum eating of meat .More specifically, now some of the animals species is in the final state of existant ,possibly leading to animals species come to an end

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 123 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you state a clear position, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack the necessary depth and supporting evidence required for a Task 2 essay. The second paragraph attempts to discuss environmental impacts but remains vague and repetitive, failing to fully address the prompt's focus on the cruelty of raising animals. To improve, you must expand your arguments with specific examples and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for full development of your ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay shows some attempt at logical organization, with an introduction and a body paragraph. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the lack of length and limited development. Cohesive devices are used in a somewhat mechanical way, such as 'Indeed' and 'More specifically', but the overall flow is disjointed. Paragraphing is present, but the structure is incomplete due to the unfinished nature of the response. To achieve a higher score, you need to use a wider range of linking words and ensure that each paragraph develops a single, clear idea that connects logically to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, which restricts your ability to express complex ideas. There are several instances of awkward word choices and incorrect collocations, such as 'consumed animals product' instead of 'animal products' and 'final state of existant' instead of 'verge of extinction'. These errors occasionally impede the clarity of your message. To improve, you should focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to ethics and the environment and practice using these words in correct sentence structures to convey your meaning more precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that affect the accuracy of your writing. Examples include 'due the fact' (missing 'to'), 'animals species is' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'innocents animals' (incorrect pluralization). The range of sentence structures is quite limited, relying mostly on simple or slightly flawed complex sentences. There is a lack of control over basic grammar, which makes the text difficult to follow at times. Focusing on subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and sentence variety will be essential for improving your grammatical accuracy and range.
