Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you present a position, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient depth. For instance, the point about cultural traditions is mentioned but not fully explored in relation to the prompt's ethical concerns. Furthermore, the conclusion is abrupt and does not effectively summarize your position. To improve, you must expand on your arguments with more detailed examples and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for a comprehensive discussion of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'in other hand' instead of 'on the other hand'. The progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the transition between the health benefits of meat and the environmental impact. The referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult to follow the logical flow of your argument. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words will help create a smoother, more professional flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several spelling errors, such as 'altought' (although), 'essencial' (essential), 'protien' (protein), and 'instence' (instance). Additionally, word choice is sometimes imprecise, such as using 'cut the animals' instead of 'slaughter' or 'sacrifice'. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more academic vocabulary and ensure you proofread for spelling mistakes, which currently occur frequently enough to distract the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'most of people' (most people), 'there are some cultural' (there are some cultures), and 'animals plays' (animals play). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing capital letters at the start of sentences and incorrect spacing around commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction limits the score. You should practice complex sentence structures and focus on subject-verb agreement.
