People should never eat meat because raising animals for human consumption is cruel.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?Give reasons for your answer, and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Being vegetarian or non vegetarian has always been a topic of argument for people. It is believed by some that raising animals for human consumption is unkind. I completely disagree with the opinion.
The primary reason for my disagreement with the view is the human were introduced as omnivores on the world. Humans have been raising animals and using it for consumption since early stages. For example, even early man consumed meat. Additionally, the mankind is able to digest meat which means that the god made us accordingly. Raising animals to eat should not be considered as a sin since this is all related to the concept of food chain.
Another undeniable reason is that there are only limited source of protein available. To meet the diet requirements and have a balanced diet, people consume meat and other non vegetarian food. Meat provides strength and survival to mankind. To exemplify, there are several children who are malnourished just because they do not consume enough protein in their diet. Furthermore, raising animals for consumption is the main source of money for the thousands of the families. How can it be brutal to feed one’s family and generate employment. It also subsequently adds to the economy of the country in which this occupation is being done.
In conclusion, raising animals for consumption has enormous benefits including generating employment, benefiting the country financially and supporting human health with protein. The god has created this food chain and I believe considering humans raising animals for food is merciless is unfavorable.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have clearly stated your position and maintained it throughout the essay. You address the prompt by providing reasons for your disagreement, such as biological necessity and economic impact. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the 'food chain' and 'god' is a bit simplistic and lacks depth. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your points with more sophisticated reasoning or nuanced examples. While you cover all parts of the task, the supporting arguments could be more thoroughly explored to demonstrate a more comprehensive understanding of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
Your essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Additionally', 'Another undeniable reason', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes a bit mechanical, and the use of referencing could be more varied. For example, the transition between the health benefits of meat and the economic benefits in the second body paragraph is slightly abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between ideas would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'omnivores', 'malnourished', and 'consumption' correctly. However, there are some instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'the human were introduced' (should be 'humans') and 'the god' (which is stylistically awkward). You rely on some repetitive phrasing, such as 'raising animals for consumption'. To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms and collocations to express your ideas with greater precision and sophistication, moving beyond basic vocabulary to more academic or topic-specific terminology.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. However, there are several grammatical errors that persist throughout the text, such as 'the human were introduced', 'the mankind', and 'the god made us'. Additionally, there are minor issues with article usage and pluralization, such as 'thousands of the families'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles will help you achieve greater accuracy in your writing.
