Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this modern era, some people think that people should avoid eating meat in their lives because they believe that it is cruel action to eat animals as a human. I partially disagree with this statement. I will my viewpoints in this whole essay.

To begin, I disagree with this because human get their protein from the animals by eating egg, meat, steak etc. For example, if somebody suffer from the health issue and need lot of protein for recovery then doctor suggested to have some protein by eating meat, egg and some soups which can help to people heal some body parts which was damage by accidents, health diseases. That is the reason why I was opposite by this statement because sometimes we cannot get enough protein from vegetarian stuff and we need meats and all for proteins.

on the other hand, I agree with this because I believe in good and my religion is Sikhism. So, in my religion we worship a cow as a goddess however, in some countries eat cow's meat which is totally opposite from us. In that situation I think that it is really cruel to consumption cow's meat as a steak and beef. For instance, we got lot of things from cow as already form of protein like milk, butter, yogurt many more. if we already get many things as a protein so why people want them as a steak or beef. Hence, because of this viewpoint I agree with this statement on the same time.

In conclude, I disagree with this because in some situation we need a meat as protein as per demand of the body and doctor suggested however, I am from Sikhism where people worship cows as a goddess because of the religious purpose I disagree with this statement.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by providing a partially disagreeing position. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention health benefits and religious beliefs, the arguments lack depth and clear logical progression. For instance, the argument regarding protein is repetitive, and the religious argument is slightly contradictory, as you state you 'agree' and 'disagree' with the same premise simultaneously. To improve, ensure your position is consistent and that each paragraph provides a well-supported, distinct argument that directly answers the 'to what extent' aspect of the question.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'In conclude' instead of 'In conclusion' and 'on the same time' instead of 'at the same time'. The transition between ideas is sometimes abrupt, and the referencing (e.g., 'this statement') is occasionally unclear. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and phrases more naturally to connect sentences and paragraphs, ensuring the flow of ideas is logical and easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. You frequently use words like 'protein', 'meat', and 'cruel' without much variation. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'cruel action to eat animals as a human' and 'vegetarian stuff'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and collocations. For example, instead of 'vegetarian stuff', use 'plant-based alternatives' or 'meat-free diets'. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you express your ideas with more sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'human get their protein'), article usage (e.g., 'in some countries eat cow's meat'), and tense consistency (e.g., 'doctor suggested' instead of 'doctors suggest'). While the meaning is generally understandable, these persistent errors prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with verb tenses and pluralization.
