Student answer (Band 5.5)
People should never eat meat because raising animals for human consumption is cruel. People can eat vegetables and fruits to have their desired amount of vitmains and minerals, but meat is also important because it is a source of high proteins.
In my opinion, vegetables and fruits may not provide enough minerals, vitamins, fibres, or proteins as much as meat could. Seafood is also a great source of proteins.
Animals provide us milk, meat, and hens provide us eggs too, which are a great source of high proteins. Protein is essential for our muscles and body.
On the other hand, we can not say that animals are raised by someone. the number of animals are increasing day by day, what we could do with them except using them to feed human beings.
Our agricultural land is not enough to feed a huge population. So, how will we feed them and provide them their necessitites of life? When we have an option by which we can feed human beings and also provide them enough nutrients, then why not?
Using animals to feed human beings is not cruel because Allah has made them Halal for us, if it would be cruel then Allah would not made it Halal for human beings. Furthermore, we can not leave human life to be in danger because of the lack of food.
At the end, it is not as much cruel as it is portraying. As cutting plants is not cruelity then using animals for human consumption can not be cruel as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against the idea that eating meat is cruel. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention nutritional needs and religious perspectives, the arguments are not fully extended. For instance, the point about agricultural land is introduced but lacks a clear connection to the cruelty argument. To reach a higher band, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed argument with specific examples or logical reasoning that directly supports your stance. The conclusion is a bit abrupt and relies on a comparison between plants and animals that could be more effectively articulated.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. Phrases like 'On the other hand' and 'Furthermore' are used, but the transition between ideas within paragraphs is sometimes disjointed. For example, the shift from discussing protein sources to the population growth argument feels abrupt. Improving the flow between sentences by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the logical progression of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'consumption,' 'nutrients,' and 'necessities.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'not as much cruel as it is portraying' and 'cruelity' (which should be 'cruelty'). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and ensure that words are used in their correct grammatical form. Avoid repetitive phrasing by using synonyms for 'meat' or 'animals' where appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'the number of animals are increasing' (should be 'is'), 'Allah would not made it' (should be 'would not have made'), and 'as cutting plants is not cruelity' (should be 'cruelty'). Punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after commas, also occur. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of modal verbs in conditional sentences. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures while maintaining accuracy will help you achieve a higher score.
