Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is highly debatable issue among today's society that we should not consume non-veg as it results ruthless treatment for animals. I partially agree with this view. In this essay I will discuss my both sides and give my opinion.
To begin with, all living beings are part of food chain. To fulfil the increasing population dietary needs its highly important to include non-veg in our food. There are many communities who majorly rely on eating meat as the land over there is less productive or completely unsuitable for agriculture due to extreme weather condition for instance, In Atlantic region people heavily depend on eating fish and other local animals to keep themselves warm and full. Because the area stays covered in heavy snow all around the year.
In addition to this, vegetarian diet alone is incapable of fulfilling daily nutrition values. To complete average required nutrition value of 2000 calories per day a person needs to eat a lot of vegetables, lentils and dairy products, which is difficult for majority of population. In addition to this, if people solely eat vegetarian food they will suffers from Malnutrition and deficiencies like B12, Iron, vitamin D and so on. For example, in India 65% population suffer from anemia and B12 deficiency as a result of only vegetarian eating habits according to health India annual report.
On the other hand, animals are also part of this world and they have right to live. Despite all the reasons they do not deserve cruel treatment. To address this government should implement strict laws against unnecessary animal slaughtering.
In my opinion, animal meat is crucial for human well being as it plays a vital role in our daily diet so,meat consumption should be done in moderation and must be monitored by government that animals are not being treated badly without any necessity.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You acknowledge the ethical concerns regarding animal cruelty while arguing for the necessity of meat consumption for nutritional and environmental reasons. The ideas are relevant and supported with examples, such as the mention of the Atlantic region and the health statistics in India. However, the development of the 'cruelty' aspect is somewhat brief compared to the nutritional argument. To reach a higher band, ensure that the counter-argument is explored with equal depth and that the conclusion clearly synthesizes the 'extent' of your agreement rather than just restating the need for moderation.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. You use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with,' 'In addition to this,' and 'On the other hand' to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as the phrase 'the land over there' which lacks a clear antecedent. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different arguments. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensuring that the logical flow between sentences is smoother and less repetitive.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'dietary needs,' 'malnutrition,' and 'slaughtering.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'non-veg' (which is informal and better expressed as 'meat' or 'animal products') and 'results ruthless treatment' (which should be 'results in ruthless treatment'). There are also minor errors in phrasing, such as 'keep themselves warm and full.' To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic collocations and avoid informal abbreviations to enhance the professional tone of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that persist. For example, 'It is highly debatable issue' (missing article 'a'), 'I will discuss my both sides' (awkward phrasing), and 'they will suffers' (subject-verb agreement error). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are instances where commas are missing or misused, such as after introductory phrases. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, and aim to increase the frequency of error-free complex sentences.
