Student answer (Band 5.0)
Honestly, people shouild never eat meal because raising animals for human consumption is cruel . I completely agree on this because animals are the creature that cannot speak they own a heart , they cannot speak , they cannot tell about their pain . I think raising them for meat and milk energy consumption is cruel act . but cattle goats convert plant and grass that human cannot eat into nutrient filled food
Moreover, raising animals , like livestock farming and animal agriculture . On the other i disagree with this as it provide high quality protein , milk , nutrients and fertilizer for rural area. In conclusion, there,s should be a balance it is not a bad act to raise animals for consumption because it provide nutrients and many more essentials for humans ,

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 135 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you attempt to address the prompt by presenting both sides of the argument, the ideas are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence or examples. The position is contradictory; you state you 'completely agree' that it is cruel, but then immediately pivot to arguing against that position. To improve, you must expand your arguments with detailed explanations and ensure your stance remains consistent throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear structure. There is no introduction or proper conclusion, and the paragraphing is erratic, with some sentences appearing as isolated fragments. While some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'In conclusion' are used, they do not effectively link ideas because the underlying logic is disjointed. The transition between the argument for animal rights and the argument for nutritional benefits is abrupt and confusing. Improving the logical flow between sentences and using clear paragraph breaks for each main idea would greatly enhance the readability and coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive. There are several errors in word choice, such as 'meal' instead of 'meat' and 'creature' used incorrectly as a plural. Phrases like 'nutrient filled food' and 'energy consumption' are used in ways that do not quite fit the context of the argument. To achieve a higher band score, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary, including more precise terms related to ethics, agriculture, and nutrition, while paying closer attention to correct spelling and word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'animals are the creature'), punctuation errors, and run-on sentences. The sentence structures are generally simple, and attempts at more complex sentences are often marred by errors, such as 'there,s should be a balance'. Punctuation is inconsistent, with irregular spacing and missing commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and practicing the correct use of articles and plural forms.
