Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that animals should not be eaten by humans as it is a cruel thing to do with them. In my opinion, despite the fact that it is not a right thing to eat the animals, there are certain negative issues can occur, if not done so.
Undoubtedly, people can live without eating meat of animals. As there are several options of vegetarian food, people could choose anything to eat from them. For instance, individuals can choose soya beans to get protein instead of meat of chicken or beef. At the same time, they could avoid the harmful diseases which can be transferred from meat to humans by consuming it as a food. Researchers have found that many people died because they ate ailed meat such as fishes from the ponds.
However, Crises can arise if people would not have meat in their meals. When people would leave the option of meat, there would be a significant increase in number of some animals such as fishes and chicken. As a result, ponds, rivers or poultry farms might get crowded and diseases can spread. Furthermore, there are many countries, where domestic animals like goats, sheep or buffaloes drink water from the ponds directly. When these animals would get in contact with water, they might end up getting diseases from contaminated water. This could be a repeat cycle that would not end.
To sum up, although it is true that eating animals could be unjustified approach but adverse ailments could be occurred due to the overcrowded rivers and could impact the other animals and people's well-being.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether raising and eating animals is cruel and exploring the consequences of not eating meat. The writer takes a clear, albeit slightly hesitant, position in the introduction stating that eating animals is not right, yet highlights negative issues that could occur otherwise. Main ideas are presented, such as the viability of vegetarianism and the potential overpopulation and disease spread among animals if meat consumption ceases entirely. However, some ideas are under-developed or based on unusual premises, such as the claim that avoiding meat will lead to catastrophic crowding and widespread disease in rivers and poultry farms. This places the response solidly at Band 6, where all parts of the task are addressed, but certain arguments lack thorough logical extension and depth.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing distinct points, and a brief conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas about vegetarian alternatives from the consequences of avoiding meat. However, cohesion at the sentence level is occasionally mechanical or faulty, as seen in phrases like 'When people would leave the option of meat' and 'When these animals would get in contact with water'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and transitional phrases lack the natural flexibility required for higher bands. Overall, the organizational structure is logical enough to guide the reader easily through the argument, fitting the Band 6 descriptor well.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms such as 'consumption', 'vegetarian food', 'contaminated water', and 'well-being'. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, but these are occasionally marred by inappropriate word choice or awkward collocations, such as 'ailed meat', 'adverse ailments could be occurred', and 'unjustified approach'. Spelling is generally accurate, but lexical errors like 'ailed' instead of 'spoiled' or 'diseased', and passive voice misuse ('could be occurred'), indicate limitations in precision. These inaccuracies do not severely impede communication, supporting a Band 6 score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in structure. For instance, conditional and concessive clauses are attempted ('despite the fact that...', 'if not done so', 'If people would not have meat...'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with modal verbs, tense consistency, and conditional structures, such as 'When people would leave...' and 'adverse ailments could be occurred'. Punctuation is generally acceptable, but grammatical inaccuracies are noticeable and occasionally cause slight strain for the reader, though they rarely obscure the overall meaning. This performance is characteristic of Band 5.5 to 6.0, aligning best with a Band 6.
