Student answer (Band 5.5)

Preferring animal meat in daily diet is very common nowadays as it is a good source of protein and containing numerous nutritional value, which is not easy to fulfil through vegetarian diet. Nevertheless, It is undeniable, raising innocent creatures for human consumption is consider to be ruthless. I believe putting someone lives for self purpose is play a detrimental effect on the environment and human health.

One of the main reason why I support that demolishing nature species for selfish motive is more likely to cruelty among living beings. This is because, killing number of lives for gathering protein and for dietary nutrients to stay healthy is not a best way. Moreover, human beings have lot of options in vegetarian food and that is also rich in all sources which our body needs. To instance, soya chunks has more protein than eggs, chia seeds and flax seeds are rich in omega-3 so we do not need to kill farm animals to eat. Consequently, this action will reduce the proportion of organisms which leads to bad effect which leads to disturb our ecosystem.

Another significant reason is that, having meat in diet would tends to transferring several health issues in humans from animals. The main reason behind this is that, sometimes an animal has skin problems and human have that particular animal in the meal it has a great amount of chances that, the person would also suffers from the same issue. For example, if a chicken has severe rash on the body, if a person consume it without knowing about that disease it will passes into the man body.

In conclusion, although animal products are rich in nutrients, killing them for self motive is not delivered as humanity. There are so many options in vegetarian options as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The student addresses all parts of the task, taking a clear stance that they strongly agree with the proposition that raising animals for meat is cruel and unnecessary. The position is maintained throughout the response. Ideas are generally extended and supported, such as when the student mentions vegetarian alternatives like 'soya chunks' and seeds for omega-3. However, some arguments lack full development, and the supporting points in the third paragraph regarding disease transfer from animals to humans are somewhat speculative and under-developed. Despite these minor lapses in depth, the response effectively covers the prompt's requirements, aligning well with the descriptors for Band 6.5, leaning towards Band 6.0 due to some under-developed explanations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, separating the introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Logical sequencing is present, though transitions between ideas can sometimes feel mechanical or slightly disjointed, such as 'Consequently, this action will reduce the proportion of organisms which leads to bad effect which leads to disturb our ecosystem.' Reference words and cohesive devices are used, but they are occasionally faulty or repetitive, such as the overuse of filler phrases and repetitive sentence openings. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, but the flow of ideas lacks the smooth progression expected at higher bands, placing this performance solidly at Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student displays an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'detrimental effect,' 'demolishing nature species,' and 'ecosystem.' However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation inaccuracies throughout the text, such as 'Preferring animal meat,' 'protein and containing numerous nutritional value,' and 'self motive' instead of 'selfish motives.' Additionally, morphological errors like 'is consider to be ruthless' and 'is play a detrimental effect' detract from lexical control. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the writer's meaning, these persistent slips limit the score to Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt at varied structures. However, frequent grammatical and punctuation errors are present throughout the essay. Examples of errors include subject-verb agreement issues ('human have that particular animal'), tense and verb form errors ('is play a detrimental effect', 'would tends to transferring'), and awkward clause structures ('if a chicken has severe rash on the body, if a person consume it...'). These errors frequently disrupt the flow of reading and occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader, fitting the Band 5.0 descriptors quite closely.
