Student answer (Band 6.0)
It has become a debated issue that people should stop to eat meat as raising animals for human consumption is cruel. Although eating animals cannot be good practice, I totally disagree with this because meat is important for good nutrition and for some communities it would be difficult stop eating meat because of their belief and culture.
One of the most important reasons why it is crucial to consume non- vegetaraian food is its good nutritional value. The reason is people can get different vitamins, B12 and iron from meat which are essential to maintain a healthy body . For example, beef, chicken and fish often have more protein and iron as compared to vegetables and other eatable things. Therefore, meat can provide vital sources of energy which can helps people stay healthy.
Another reason is the difficulty of removeing meat from the diets of some societies. This is because many people often have eaten meat diet for many generations and they believe it is the part of their life and culture. For example, Bengali people eat fish such as rohu, catla on daily basis as they think it is an important part of their lives and culture. As a result, it would be difficult for some people remove meat se from their diet due to their cultural values.
In conclusion, While it is harsh to eat animals for human consumption , I think meat is important for balanced diet as it provides protein and many nutritions and even for many people it would hard to stop this diet.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, taking a clear position against the statement that people should never eat meat. The writer outlines two distinct main arguments: the nutritional benefits of meat and the cultural significance it holds for specific societies. These ideas are supported with relevant explanations and examples, such as mentioning specific vitamins like B12 and iron, as well as referencing Bengali culture and fish consumption. While the development is somewhat straightforward rather than deeply explored, the main position remains consistent and fully apparent throughout the essay. The response satisfies the requirements well, aligning comfortably with the Band 6.5 to 7.0 profile for task achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a logical overall progression, moving clearly from the introduction to two body paragraphs and a concluding summary. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices are employed to link arguments, such as 'One of the most important reasons', 'Another reason', and 'In conclusion'. However, some minor mechanical issues appear in referencing and transitions, such as 'difficulty of removeing meat' and 'even for many people it would hard to stop'. Despite these minor slip-ups, the relationships between ideas remain transparent and logical throughout, meeting the Band 6 descriptors effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully communicating the intended message. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items such as 'nutritional value', 'essential', and 'cultural values'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice inaccuracies, such as 'vegetaraian', 'removeing', 'eatable things', and 'nutritions' (instead of nutrients). While these errors do not impede communication, they restrict the lexical score to a Band 6.0, as control over less common lexical items remains inconsistent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures like conditional clauses and relative pronouns ('which are essential to maintain a healthy body'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasings throughout the text, such as 'stop to eat' instead of 'stop eating', 'helps people stay' instead of 'help people stay', 'people often have eaten' instead of 'have eaten', and 'it would hard' instead of 'it would be hard'. These errors indicate that grammatical control is somewhat limited, placing the response solidly at Band 5.5.
