Student answer (Band 6.0)

People questioning the consumption of meat has became one of the biggest news headline in today's world. This debate includes the individuals those believe that raising animals for human appitite is a disgusting idea. However, my understanding is on this topic is quite different.

For instance, lets go 10,000 years back in the history where there were no food chains to chose our food from. Humans had to go for hunt in search of their next meal. The animal flesh was the priority food for them. Therefore, our insestors were consider under carnivores species. I believe eating meat

as food was the most important face in our life cycle to achieve healthy lifestyle. Conversely, other parties state that eating meat is consider as a sin. Undoubtely, in present time we have a huge variety of vegan and vegetarian food. Therefore, eating meat has become an option in our appitite. However, as per my consideration eating different kind of meat is very beneficial for our healthy lifestyle.

For example, in 100g of chicken breast we can get upto 30g of protien. Moreover, chicken, eggs, beaf and seafoods are the biggest source of protien on planet earth. Therefore, by eating a balance diet of meat and vegetables an individual can achieve a strong and healthy lifestyle. Conversely, to get the same amount of protein, minirals and vitamins a person has to consume double or triple amount of appitite as a vegetarian or vegan.

As a conclusion, every individual has a right to eat vegetarian or non-vegetarian and we should not stop or hurt someone's feeling by questioning whether they should choose food with or without meat. Lastly, as per my believe eating meat is very important for human body to stay healthy and fit.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether raising animals for human consumption is cruel and whether people should never eat meat, presenting a clear personal position that eating meat is beneficial and acceptable. The writer attempts to develop ideas through historical reference and nutritional points, stating for example that 'in 100g of chicken breast we can get upto 30g of protien.' However, some ideas are repetitive and under-developed, relying on sweeping generalisations rather than fully extended arguments. The conclusion slightly drifts into a separate point about not hurting people's feelings, which detracts slightly from task focus. Overall, the response meets the requirements for Band 6 because it addresses all parts of the task with a clear stance, though some supporting arguments remain somewhat limited.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear attempts at paragraphing to separate the introduction, historical argument, nutritional points, and conclusion. However, cohesion is frequently faulty or mechanical, with an over-reliance on basic transition words like 'For instance,' 'Therefore,' and 'Conversely.' The phrase 'Conversely, other parties state that eating meat is consider as a sin' is used where a contrast is not entirely appropriate, and referencing is sometimes unclear, such as 'my understanding is on this topic' instead of 'my view on this topic.' Paragraphing is used, but the internal flow of ideas within paragraphs can feel disjointed due to abrupt shifts between sentences. This places the response securely at Band 6.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms related to diet and nutrition such as 'consumption,' 'carnivores species,' 'vegan,' 'vegetarian,' and 'nutrients' (though misspelled as 'minirals'). There are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'appitite' instead of 'appetite,' 'insestors' instead of 'ancestors,' 'consider' instead of 'considered,' 'protien' instead of 'protein,' 'beaf' instead of 'beef,' and 'minirals' instead of 'minerals.' While these errors do not impede overall communication because the meaning remains clear, they prevent the score from reaching a higher band. The vocabulary range is sufficient to convey simple and some less common ideas, corresponding to a Band 6 level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures like relative clauses ('the individuals those believe') and conditional-style reasoning. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'People questioning the consumption of meat has became' (subject-verb agreement error), 'the individuals those believe' (incorrect relative pronoun), and 'our insestors were consider under carnivores species' (passive voice and preposition errors). Punctuation and articles are also handled inconsistently. While these errors occur regularly, they rarely impede overall communication as the core message is still understood. This performance aligns well with the Band 5 to 6 threshold, leaning towards Band 5 due to the density of grammatical errors.
