Student answer (Band 5.0)
some people think that meat never eat just because of raising animals for human consumption is cruel and it can also damage for the animals generation .i think it is good in that way because animals deserve kindness and protection.
firstly, i agree that animals should be treated with kindness and care. in some farms, animals are kept in small spaces and do not have enough freedom to move. so it is not good for animals so it must take action in it .moreover, they may suffer before being slaughtered. for this reason, people should ensure that animals are treated humanely. i saw many people in my life which give a pain to the animals such as goat before slaughter.
however, i do not beleive that people should completely stop eating meat. eating contain important nutrients such as protein. vitamins like B12 and iron also , which help maintain a good health.furthermore, many people have been eating meat as part for generations. doctors recommend that many patients must eat a meat one or two days in a week .it is the better for the patient to reduce disease. meat can help to made a blood in your body. when your blood level reduce day by day you must add meat in their diet.
in conclusion,my opinion that people should assure that the welfare of the animals rather than banning meat. however, people stop banning on meat , they must play a role for the welfare of animals and prevent the cruelity . it must take on some open areas which they can move easily.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by considering whether eating meat is wrong due to animal cruelty, presenting a mixed position that animal welfare is important but banning meat is unnecessary. Ideas are presented, such as the nutritional value of meat and the need for humane farming practices, but they remain somewhat under-developed and lack extension. For example, the mention of doctors recommending meat is stated without further elaboration or strong supporting examples. Furthermore, there are minor lapses in task focus where grammar interferes with clarity. Overall, the response meets the requirements for a Band 5.5, tending towards Band 6 in terms of covering all parts of the task, but limited by insufficient depth and development of ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The text is organized into paragraphs, showing an attempt at logical progression from animal cruelty to nutritional necessity and a final conclusion. However, the overall cohesion is quite mechanical and faulty. Cohesive devices are either missing or repetitive, and referencing is frequently unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the phrases 'people stop banning on meat' and 'it must take on some open areas' cause confusion for the reader. Paragraphing is present, but internal logical transitions between sentences are often weak. These issues place the response firmly at Band 5.0, as the cohesive devices are inadequate and lead to noticeable disruptions in the flow of ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, with basic terms such as 'good', 'bad', and 'people' recurring frequently. There are noticeable lexical errors and awkward collocations throughout the text, such as 'damage for the animals generation', 'eating contain important nutrients', and 'help to made a blood'. Less common lexical items are attempted, but they are often inaccurate, such as 'cruelity' instead of cruelty. The range is minimally adequate for the task, but vocabulary limitations and word-choice errors frequently cause difficulty or distraction for the reader, aligning with the Band 5.0 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar and punctuation is weak. There are frequent and systematic errors in basic punctuation, capitalization (e.g., starting sentences with lowercase letters like 'some people', 'firstly, i agree'), and subject-verb agreement or preposition usage, such as 'eating meat as part for generations' and 'eat a meat one or two days in a week'. Complex structures are often faulty and cause frequent errors that obscure meaning. These persistent grammatical inaccuracies throughout most of the text reflect the characteristics of a Band 5.0 response.
