Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You give a clear position—agreeing to a large extent—and address both the ethical concern and a counterargument about meat’s nutritional and medical uses. The paragraphs about animal protection and the possible effects of meat consumption are relevant, and the final paragraph returns to your overall view. However, some support is unclear or insufficiently explained. For example, the claim that animal numbers have fallen and species are endangered does not establish that this is caused by meat consumption, while the medicine-company example is difficult to assess and is not clearly connected to cruelty in animal farming. Develop the reasoning behind these examples and explain more precisely how they support your position; this would make the response more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two paragraphs supporting your view, a paragraph presenting a counterargument, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore,” and “However” help signal the direction of the discussion. At times, though, the progression within paragraphs is difficult to follow because related claims are repeated or their connection is not made explicit. For instance, the food-chain point is stated twice, and the move from animal rights to religious beliefs needs a clearer explanation. Some references, such as “them” in the discussion of medicines, are also unclear. Organise each paragraph around one main point and use linking language to show how each example supports it.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “food-chain cycle,” “endanger species,” “population,” and “cruelty,” and you use some topic-specific terms to discuss diet and animal protection. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause, as in “apprioriate,” “vegitarian,” “inrich,” and “camaign.” Several phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, including “animals are verge to vanish” and “meat is crucial in dietry.” Aim to learn accurate forms and common collocations, such as “at risk of extinction,” “a balanced diet,” and “animal welfare.” More precise vocabulary would help you express your ideas clearly without relying on awkward or repeated wording.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use a mixture of simple statements and attempts at longer, more complex sentences, including sentences beginning with “Moreover” and “although.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make relationships between ideas unclear. Examples include “individuals are avoid,” “many people argue that adding meat … can disturb,” and “There are some religion and law has enforced,” where verb forms and sentence structure need correction. Agreement and articles also need attention, as in “population of animals have right” and “as a animanl.” Review subject–verb agreement, verb patterns after “avoid,” and how to join clauses with “although.” More accurate control of these structures would make your argument easier to follow.
