Student answer (Band 5.0)

People have different opinions about eating meat. Some people argue that individuals should never eat meat because raising animals for human consumption is cruel. I disagree with this statement because meat have variuos vitamines and protiens while consuming.

To begin with, meat can provide several important nutrients for a healthy body. It is good sources of protien, iron and vitamin B12. Although these nutrients can also found in other food, some people may find it easier to get them by eating meat. For example, chicken, beef, egg, pork are commen food to get sufficient nutrients and protiens . Therefore, completely avoiding meat is not necessary for everyone.

Furthermore, eating meat is the part of their diet and culture in some countries because they added more meat in their traditional foods which are often part of their wedding fuctions, birthday parties, traditional festivals and so on.For instance, India is diverse county and have various cultures and traditional festivals therefore, during Eid and Ramadan most of the people eat meats a lot do their part of their festival celebration.

To conclude, athough the meat consumption is very cruel, goverment should provide conservation for endangered animals. Meat is a good part of human diet.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You state a clear disagreement in the introduction and give relevant reasons: nutrition and the role of meat in cultural diets. However, the response addresses the issue only partially. The nutritional point is briefly explained, while the cultural example is unclear and does not directly establish why eating meat should be acceptable despite concerns about animal cruelty. The conclusion also shifts to protecting endangered animals, which is not the same as addressing cruelty in livestock farming. The response is 188 words, below the 250-word minimum; 12 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop your position with a direct response to the cruelty argument and explain each example more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Signposts such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore” and “To conclude” help show the intended sequence. However, progression is weakened by abrupt or unclear connections: the discussion moves from nutrients to cultural celebrations without explaining how these points support your disagreement with the claim about cruelty. The final reference to endangered animals also feels disconnected from the preceding argument. Some linking is mechanical, and the long sentence beginning “India is diverse county” is difficult to follow. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example explicitly to your main position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “nutrients,” “traditional foods,” “festivals” and “consumption,” so the reader can identify your main topics. However, the range is limited and several spelling errors make the writing less clear, such as “variuos,” “protiens,” “commen” and “goverment.” Some word combinations are also unnatural, including “good sources of protein” when referring to meat generally and “provide conservation for endangered animals.” Aim for accurate spelling and more precise expressions, especially when discussing animal welfare and food choices. Replacing repeated general terms with suitable topic vocabulary would also make the argument more specific.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a concession beginning “Although these nutrients…” and a reason introduced by “because.” However, errors are frequent, and some sentences are difficult to interpret. Examples include “meat have” instead of a singular verb, “these nutrients can also found” without an auxiliary, and “India is diverse county and have various cultures,” which has article and agreement problems. The sentence about Eid and Ramadan lacks a clear grammatical structure, while punctuation and spacing are inconsistent. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles and complete clause structures before adding more complexity. Clearer sentence boundaries would help readers follow your ideas.
