Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some people believe that meat should not be consumed because animals are raised and then killed to get meat. I understand this is a cruel activity and animals should not be killed for food. However, some individuals in several parts of the world have no other choice to sustain themselves without consuming meat. Therefore, I am partially agree with this view.

There are several siginificant reasons due to which people hold the perspective that innocent animals should not be slaughter for the production of meat. The primary reason is that some species of animals are endangered and some are alreasy extinct. Although, meat is a major source of protien and important part of food industry, killing thousand of living animals can cause their extinction. Therefore, expoiting animals for food and other puposes can diminish their population. In addition to this, this will also negatively affect the food chain. This is because some living creatures are crucial part of ecosytem and food chain is dependent on them. As a result, it will also negatively imapct the population of other creatures.

On the other hand, some parts of the world have shortage of other food resources and lack the availibilty of fertile lands to get food from vegetation. For example, in antartic regions severe weather conditions make it difficult for people to have different sources of food. Therefore, they are dependent on the meat to survive in such living conditions. Furthermore, another factor responsible for the consumption of animals is that some people have medical conditions and allergies to certain foods. As a result, they have limited options to sustain themselves.

In conclusion, although some people have no option rather then consuming meat, killing animals on places where varities of food options are available should be banned by governments in order to these living creatures and prevent their extinction.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you partially disagree because some people depend on meat where alternatives are unavailable, while you oppose killing animals where other foods can be obtained. You address both sides and give relevant reasons, including food scarcity and allergies. This meets the task well, but the argument is not equally developed throughout. The claim that meat consumption can cause species extinction is broad and would be stronger with a specific example or a clearer distinction between endangered wildlife and animals raised for food. The medical-allergy point is also introduced briefly without explaining how it supports your position. Develop these points and make the link between animal cruelty and your final recommendation more explicit to strengthen the response further.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a coherent overall structure: an introduction states your position, two body paragraphs present opposing considerations, and a conclusion gives a recommendation. Connectors such as “On the other hand,” “Furthermore,” and “As a result” help readers follow the argument. However, some links feel mechanical, and a few references are unclear. For example, “this will also negatively affect the food chain” does not specify exactly what “this” refers to, while the repeated use of “Therefore” and “As a result” makes the progression somewhat formulaic. The conclusion also moves quickly from exceptions to a proposed ban. Use more precise referencing and vary how you connect explanations, examples, and consequences.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “slaughter,” “endangered,” “food chain,” “fertile lands,” and “medical conditions,” which helps communicate the main ideas. There are also attempts at less common language, but spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: “siginificant,” “alreasy,” “protien,” “expoiting,” and “availibilty.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “sustain themselves without consuming meat” in this context and “on places where varieties of food options are available.” Aim for accurate spelling and natural collocations, and choose precise terms—for instance, distinguish animals raised for food from endangered species in the wild. This would make your vocabulary more controlled and precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “although,” and “where,” and most of your meaning remains clear. Some grammatical errors persist, particularly with agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction. For example, “I am partially agree” should be “I partially agree,” and “animals should not be slaughter” needs a passive form such as “should not be slaughtered.” In “a major source of protein and important part,” an article is missing before “important part.” The final sentence, “in order to these living creatures,” is incomplete because the verb after “in order to” is missing. Review these patterns and punctuate the conclusion carefully; greater accuracy across your complex sentences would improve control.
