Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years, there has been consiberable debate about raising animals for human consumption is cruel. While some people believe we should treat animals with humanity. I believe that it is using animals for basic neccesity of life such as clothes, food and shelter.

One major reason why I disgaree with this statement in my opinion eating flash is required for healthy diet and even doctore prescribed to eat chicken, meat for healthy bones and protien diet. For example, when I broke my left arm bone i was unable to join by medicine and vegeterian diet then doctor prescribed to eat meats and drink chicken soups for strong bones because it helps in quick heal. Furthermore, we used animal skin for make jacket to secure ourself from cold wind in winter season. Therefore, we cannot completely avoid consuming animals.

However I agree that unncessery cruelty with animals should be avoided. one good example is nowadays leather factories using crocodiles, snakes, tigers etc skin for making luxury bag, shoes or even belts. which I feel goverment should striclty prohibitied this work. Goverment should imposed some penalty or banned teh company who are not following goverment instructiona and unncesserily harming animals for protien diet and luxury items.

In conclusion, although I agree that animals should be treated humanely and unnecessary hurting animal should be banned. I disagree that people should completely stop eating meat. Meat can provide important nutrients, and it remains an important part of many people's diets and cultures.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you disagree with a complete ban on eating meat, while supporting action against unnecessary cruelty. You address both sides of the prompt and give relevant support, especially the personal example about your broken arm and the discussion of animal skins used for luxury goods. However, some claims are not fully explained or are too broad—for instance, the doctor’s advice is presented as proof that meat is necessary, without acknowledging that dietary needs vary. The point about clothing also shifts attention from the question of eating meat. The response is two words below the required minimum, so it does not meet the length requirement. Develop your main reasons more carefully and add a little relevant explanation or evidence.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting meat consumption, a paragraph opposing unnecessary cruelty, and a conclusion that restates your position. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “However,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of your argument. Some connections are less clear, though. The move from eating meat to using animal skin for jackets broadens the discussion, and the sentence beginning “Goverment should imposed” does not clearly connect its proposed penalties to the preceding examples. There are also sentence-boundary problems, such as “shoes or even belts. which I feel…”. Use cohesive links to show how each example supports your position, and check that each sentence is complete and clearly connected to the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “human consumption,” “cruelty,” “luxury,” “nutrients,” and “cultures,” and the reader can generally understand your argument. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning harder to follow: “consiberable,” “flash” for “flesh,” “neccesity,” and “unncesserily” are examples. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “healthy bones,” “quick heal,” and “secure ourself from cold wind.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. A wider range of precise terms—such as “animal welfare,” “nutritional needs,” and “commercial use”—would help you express distinctions more clearly without repeating general words such as “animals” and “meat.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mix of simple and more complex forms, including a concession in “although I agree…” and a reason clause beginning “because.” Your meaning is usually recoverable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity. The opening contains a sentence fragment: “While some people believe we should treat animals with humanity.” The phrase “I believe that it is using animals” has an unclear subject, and “Goverment should imposed” uses an incorrect verb form. There are also issues with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “one good example is nowadays…” and “belts. which I feel…”. Practise building complete sentences with clear subjects and correct verb forms, and use punctuation to separate independent clauses. More accurate control of these patterns would make your argument easier to read.
