Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, eating meat is a common practise in many countries .However, some people believe that people should stop eating meat because keeping animals as a source of food is a cruelty. I am partly agree this statement because animal should be treating as humanely as they are also living things ,Although I believe that everyone should have freedom to choose their diet.

On the one hand,I agree that raising animal for human cosumption is cruelty . I saw that In many farms animals are kept in small places and are not provided proper living things they feel stress and some health problems. Moreover, animals are also living creatures that can also feel pain ,so humans should treat them with respect and kindness. Therefore, governments should introduce strict laws to ensure that animals are raised safely and peacefully.

On the other hand,In many countries meat is the part of people's lives as it is a great source of protein and iron so people it to maintain a good health. I believe that we cannot force everyone to stop consuming meat as it is their personal choice.furthermore, in many societies have some traditional dishes that contain meat and raising livestock is a source of income.

In my opinion, government should encourage people to eat meat from farms that follow ethical practices.people who prefer to eat vegetarian food should also motivate to follow the same diet This would help animals welfare without restricting individual freedom.

To sum up,although I agree that eating animals should be prevented .I don't think eating meat should be completely banned.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you partly agree that animal cruelty is unacceptable, but oppose a complete ban because diet is a personal choice. You address both sides and offer relevant reasons, including animal suffering, nutrition, cultural dishes and livestock as a source of income. The suggestion that governments enforce ethical farming also gives your argument a practical direction. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: for example, the nutritional value of meat is mentioned without explaining why this means people should retain the choice to eat it, and the income point is not developed. The conclusion restates your view, but could more precisely distinguish preventing cruelty from preventing meat consumption. More explanation and specific examples would make the response more fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a coherent overall structure: an introduction states your position, two body paragraphs present contrasting arguments, and a conclusion summarises your view. The signposts “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” make the main progression easy to follow. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or unclear. Several ideas are joined in long strings with “and” or “so,” particularly in the discussion of meat as a source of protein and iron. The shift from ethical farming to encouraging vegetarians is also abrupt, and “This” in the final body paragraph does not clearly refer to one specific proposal. Use clearer sentence boundaries and linking phrases that show cause, contrast or consequence, and make references explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “source of protein and iron,” “traditional dishes,” “livestock” and “ethical practices.” These choices show some range beyond basic everyday language. However, inaccurate word forms, spelling and collocations are noticeable and sometimes make the phrasing awkward: “a cruelty,” “human cosumption,” “proper living things” and “animals welfare” do not express your intended meanings naturally. “Practise” is also the wrong spelling for the noun in this context; use “practice.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations such as “animal welfare,” “humane conditions” and “meat consumption.” Proofreading spelling and checking how words combine would improve precision while preserving your relevant topic vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a reason clause in “because keeping animals as a source of food is a cruelty” and a contrast introduced by “although.” The overall meaning is generally understandable, but errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles and punctuation are persistent enough to limit accuracy. Examples include “I am partly agree,” “animals are kept … and are not provided proper living things they feel stress,” and “people who prefer to eat vegetarian food should also motivate.” The final sentence also joins contrasting ideas without clear punctuation. Practise forming complete clauses, using correct verb patterns (“I partly agree”; “should be encouraged”), and separating independent clauses with full stops or suitable conjunctions. Greater control of these patterns would make your varied sentences clearer.
