Student answer (Band 4.5)

actually i dont agree with that because it should not be count as human consumption it is the normal food chain as it starts with grass ends with people athough what makes it really bad and for sure should be counted as human consumption and highly placed people should be considering putting real limits is when people over or over use for meat as god put for us some kind of ratio evry body has his own so you should not exceed that limit or under do it also as we arent having shortage in animals raised compared to human consumption so there is not any barrier to eat meat moreover god accepted and honourd us to eat meet so who are we to say no to what god offer us except people who have some health problems with meat in overall as meat is important for living as it contains high percentage of protein and not like any other protien it is a top high quality ones and carbs wich are so usefull for people and neccesary in any weak food sheclude specially for athletes as they cant gain enough protein from the plant based protien food as peanuts oats beans and more and wont be as high quality as the protien you gain in meat so we surely in deep need to eat meat moreover its not about protein only it is about b12 wich you cant have from the pant based food its only found in meat

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear overall disagreement and offer relevant reasons, including the nutritional value of meat, vitamin B12, and the idea that eating animals is part of a natural food chain. These points show an attempt to address the opinion. However, the response only partially develops the argument: the claim that animal numbers are not a concern is asserted rather than supported, and the discussion of religious permission does not directly answer whether raising animals is cruel. The opening also shifts between opposing meat consumption and objecting only to excessive consumption, so your position is not fully consistent. To strengthen the response, address animal welfare directly, explain whether humane farming changes your view, and support each main reason with a clear example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

The response contains several related ideas, and words such as “also” and “moreover” signal that you are adding reasons. However, the ideas are presented as one long, largely unpunctuated sequence, with no clear paragraphing or progression from one point to the next. The opening moves from the food chain to limits on meat consumption, then to religious belief and nutrition, making the relationship between claims difficult to follow. Repeated additions such as “moreover” do not create a clear structure, and references such as “that limit” are not sufficiently explained. Organise the essay into an introduction, separate body paragraphs for distinct reasons, and a conclusion. Use linking phrases to show relationships, not simply to add another point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “food chain,” “human consumption,” “protein,” “plant based,” and “B12,” which helps communicate your main subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the argument harder to understand, such as “highly placed people,” “weak food sheclude,” and “under do it.” Repetition of “meat,” “protein,” and “moreover” also limits flexibility. Some expressions appear to be attempts at more formal language but are not used naturally. Build a more precise vocabulary for the task, especially terms about animal welfare and farming, and check spelling and collocations. For example, distinguish “overconsumption” from “animal cruelty” and use established phrases such as “animal welfare standards.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt to connect several clauses and give reasons in extended sentences, but the structures are often difficult to follow because clauses run together without reliable punctuation. For example, the opening sentence joins “I don’t agree,” the food-chain claim, and a contrast about limits without clear sentence boundaries. There are also recurring problems with sentence construction and agreement, as in “it is the normal food chain as it starts with grass ends with people,” where the relationship between the clauses is unclear. The response shows some ability to express connected ideas, but control is inconsistent and errors sometimes impede understanding. Use shorter sentences, add full stops and commas carefully, and practise forming clear subordinate clauses before attempting long chains of ideas.
