Student answer (Band 6.0)

The issue of animals consumption by individuals has sparked a considerable debate. Some people argue that it not ethically acceptable to slaughter animals to fullfill human nutritional needs. I am not in favour of this argument because they are vital to fullfil animal protein requirement of the body and they also help to boost economy of the country.

The first reason to support my argument is that human body needs a large propotion of animal protein to function properly. The reason is that protein is helpfull in building new tissues and cells which break down on daily basis, and protein is a vital nutrient to rebuild them. Although there are other ways of protein consumption, it can not fullfil the increasing demand of population. For instance if all humans start relay on plant protein than it will be insufficient. Ultimately it will lead to increase in morbidity rate in population. Therefore, to stay healthy a balanced nutrition of carbohydrates and protein is crucial.

Other reason is that it is a good source of economy advancement for many countries. Because in rural areas most people take care of different animals and it is a source of their livelihood. Many families depend on the sale of herd. Moreover, it also affect on overall economy of the country. If withen the country there is a greater production of cattles they can export to the other countries and can earn a handsome amount to invest in other projects which are helpfull for the citizens. Thereby, to raise animals and slaughter them in a proper ethical way is not come under a cruel act.

To sum up, animal protein plays a significant role for human body, and in economy of the country. Therefore, from my perspective it is acceptable to slaughter animals in an ethical and proper way.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you disagree with the claim that people should never eat meat, while supporting slaughter when it is conducted ethically. You give two relevant reasons—animal protein and economic livelihoods—and include explanations about tissue repair, rural families, and exports. This addresses the task, but the argument is not equally developed throughout. The claim that plant protein would be insufficient and increase morbidity is asserted rather than supported, and the economic point focuses more on production and exports than on why raising animals need not be cruel. To strengthen the response, acknowledge animal-welfare concerns directly and explain what ethical farming or slaughter would involve, then support the health claims with more precise reasoning or an example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your position. Sequencing phrases such as “The first reason,” “Other reason,” and “To sum up” help readers follow the argument. However, some connections are mechanical, and a few references or transitions are unclear. For example, “Although there are other ways of protein consumption, it can not fulfil the increasing demand” leaves it uncertain whether “it” refers to plant protein or another source. The sentence beginning “Because in rural areas” is also a fragment, interrupting the flow of the economic paragraph. Use more varied transitions and make links between claims explicit, especially when moving from protein needs to the conclusion about animal welfare.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic-related vocabulary, including “nutritional needs,” “morbidity rate,” “livelihood,” “production,” and “export.” These choices show an effort to discuss health and economic effects beyond basic language. However, several spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural collocations reduce accuracy: “fullfill,” “propotion,” “helpfull,” and “cattles” are examples, while “source of economy advancement” and “protein consumption” do not express the intended ideas naturally. Some repetition of “protein,” “animals,” and “country” also limits flexibility. Aim for accurate, conventional combinations such as “economic growth,” “meet demand,” and “animal-based protein,” and check spelling and countability when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex forms, including a concession clause (“Although there are other ways…”) and conditional structures (“If… they can export…”). The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make relationships less clear. For example, “protein is helpfull in building” has an incorrect verb construction, “it also affect” has subject–verb disagreement, and “is not come under a cruel act” is not a well-formed passive or active structure. The sentence beginning “Because in rural areas” is a fragment, and several sentences need clearer article and plural control. Practise building complete clauses and checking agreement and verb forms; this will make your complex sentences more reliable while preserving the range you are attempting.
