Student answer (Band 7.0)
Some people assert that physical education classes are a crucial part of school life, whereas others disagree with this view point and strongly believes that student should focus on academic subjects more. In my opinion, although physical education helps children to unwind, learn ,and play, focusing on classroom based learning is equally important.
To begin with, PE classes help students to improve their health because it focuses mainly on sports and outdoor activities, which promotes healthy lifestyle by building endurance, strength, and flexibility. It also teach children about cooperation, team management, fairness. Moreover, physical education classes are beneficial for average students who may not perform well academically but are talented in sports. For example, in India, students get opportunity to enroll themselves into sports quota which helps low scoring students to get admission in prestigious colleges to continue their studies and improving their athletic abilities.
On the other hand, a significant number of individuals believe, that during school time students should only focus on studies because of rising competition. Nowadays, students have a lot of academic pressure because they are not only preparing to pass only one single exam, but preparing for competitive exams also. In addition, focusing on studies help to get desired scores, which is beneficial to get admission in a good college and placement in higher paying jobs.
To conclude, physical education classes are required to help children learn about teamwork, sportsmanship, and fairness. It is also beneficial for students who are not good in studies. Nevertheless, education should always considered more important than any other thing because it broadens the mindset of an individual, help them to get desired and high earing jobs. Thus, instead of focusing solely on any one aspect a balanced approach is important maintain the well being of students.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have addressed all parts of the prompt by discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. Your position is consistent throughout the essay. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of sports quotas in India, which adds depth to your argument. However, some points could be further extended; for instance, the discussion on academic pressure could be more specific regarding how it impacts a child's holistic development. Overall, the response is well-structured and directly answers the task requirements, demonstrating a good understanding of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', 'On the other hand', and 'To conclude' to guide the reader through your arguments. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions could be more sophisticated to improve the overall cohesion. For example, the link between the second and third paragraphs could be tighter to emphasize the contrast between the two viewpoints more effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your ideas clearly. You use topic-specific terms like 'endurance', 'flexibility', 'sportsmanship', and 'academic pressure'. There are some minor inaccuracies, such as 'high earing jobs' (should be 'high-earning') and 'education should always considered' (should be 'be considered'). While you attempt to use a variety of words, some phrasing is slightly repetitive. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise collocations and less common lexical items to express your points with greater nuance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('others... strongly believes' should be 'believe'; 'it also teach' should be 'it also teaches') and missing articles or prepositions. Punctuation is generally functional, though there are some unnecessary commas, such as in 'believe, that'. Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout the essay. To improve, focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed with greater grammatical precision.
