Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, as it is only 182 words long. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay attempts to address both views, the discussion is incomplete, and the second body paragraph is cut off mid-sentence. The position is stated in the introduction, but the lack of length prevents a full exploration of the arguments. To improve, you must ensure you provide a complete, balanced discussion and a clear conclusion, while meeting the minimum length requirement to allow for sufficient idea development.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with' and 'However' to signal transitions. However, the logical progression is severely hampered by the incomplete nature of the text. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph is unfinished, which disrupts the overall flow. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'This things can also be done', where the pronoun reference is imprecise. To improve, focus on completing your thoughts within each paragraph and using a wider variety of linking words to connect your ideas more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word-choice errors, such as 'opposite thinking' instead of 'differing opinions' and 'this things' instead of 'these things'. The vocabulary is somewhat repetitive and relies on simple, everyday language. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more topic-specific collocations and avoid basic grammatical errors that affect word forms, such as subject-verb agreement.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Examples include 'PEOPLE NOWADAYS ARE HAVING' (incorrect tense usage), 'RATHER THEN' (spelling error for 'than'), and 'OTHER ARE ALSO RIGHT AT THE VIEW' (inaccurate preposition and pluralization). These errors are noticeable and occasionally make the text difficult to follow. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles and prepositions.
