Education is widely regarded as a cornerstone of the progressed society. While some individuals hold the view that calisthenics play more significant role in schooling, others say it is more relevant to concentrate on educational curriculum during school days. Despite having manifold benefits of focusing on academics, I completely agree with the notion that a healthy body leads to a healthy mind. This essay will elucidate both the views along with examples in the upcoming paragraphs.
On the one hand, physical education plays a vital role in physical and mental development of a child. As the phrase 'A healthy body leads to a healthy mind' reveals the actual importance of this subject in the curriculum of children. To explain, calisthenics contribute to develop cooperation and teamwork among youth. Therefore, it also help them to stay fit and active throughout the day which ultimately leads to enhance productivity of a young ones. For example, a survey conducted by WHO on youngsters revealed that 80% of children who perform physical activities everyday, study more efficiently.
On the other hand, there are numerous factors which support the view that students should focus on academics. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, though some arguments, particularly regarding the academic side, are slightly underdeveloped and rely on broad generalizations. For instance, the claim that academics help youth 'adopt fair practices in business' is a bit vague. The position is consistent throughout, and the essay structure is logical. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is supported with more specific, concrete examples rather than general statements about society.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'Moreover,' and 'In conclusion' are used effectively to guide the reader. However, there are some minor issues with sentence-level cohesion; for example, the final paragraph contains a sentence fragment ('Although there are several benefits... However, academics is inherently equally important...'), which disrupts the flow. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the progression of ideas is generally clear throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
The student demonstrates a sufficient range of vocabulary to discuss the topic with some precision. Words like 'cornerstone,' 'elucidate,' and 'indispensable' show an attempt to use less common lexical items. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'progressed society' (should be 'progressive' or 'developed') and 'calisthenics' (which is too narrow a term for general physical education). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more natural collocation usage.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the student attempts complex sentences, there are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('it also help them', 'it is also plays') and punctuation errors. The final paragraph is particularly problematic as it contains a sentence fragment that is not a complete grammatical unit. Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout, and the student demonstrates an ability to construct complex ideas, even if the execution is not always error-free.
