Student answer (Band 6.5)
Many individuals believe that while students focus on academic subjects, physical education classes are as important as primary subjects. Academic studies provide knowledge like history, critical thinking or reasoning, but physical education helps to build a healthy body. However, I think pupils should focus on physical education, so that they can build a good mind and body.
On one hand, primary subjects are necessary because they provide knowledge which is required for the future. The basic knowledge of Maths, science or reasoning is mandatory when students need to apply for a job or higher studies, so to grow in professional career it is good for students to focus on academic students during schools. Although primary subjects are required to be studied by students, the benefits of physical education are inevitable.
On the other hand, nowadays due to technology students do not focus on health that is why subjects like physical education should be a vital part of school. Students feel isolated because they spend most of their time to themselves using mobile phones or games at home which lead to many health issues, so to overcome this problem it is a responsibility of schools to encourage learners to participate in physical education classes. Therefore, I think students should focus on sports classes which aid them to improve mental or physical health.
To conclude, some people think that students should not only focus on academic subjects, but physical education classes are important also. While primary subjects provide knowledge for students' careers, physical education helps to keep them healthy.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that academic subjects are necessary for future careers, the explanation remains quite general. Similarly, the argument for physical education focuses heavily on the negative impact of technology, which is a relevant point, but it could be expanded with more specific examples of how sports foster teamwork or discipline. To reach a higher band, ensure that each main point is fully extended with specific reasoning or examples rather than just stating the benefits.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'To conclude' to guide the reader. However, the transition between sentences within paragraphs can sometimes feel a bit mechanical. For instance, the link between the rise of technology and the need for physical education could be smoother. Additionally, some referencing is slightly repetitive. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that ideas flow more naturally from one to the next would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'mandatory', 'inevitable', and 'isolated'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'academic students' (should be 'academic studies') and 'good mind and body' (which is slightly informal). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific collocations related to education and health, and focus on using words in their correct grammatical context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'subjects like physical education should be a vital part of school' (missing an article) and 'it is a responsibility of schools' (should be 'the responsibility'). There are also minor punctuation and phrasing issues, such as 'physical education classes are important also'. The control of grammar is generally good, but the frequency of these small errors prevents a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and article usage to improve accuracy.
