Student answer (Band 6.0)
people have different opinions around whether a child should be engaged in physical fitness activities or just focus on studying. this essay will explore both the point of views along with relevant examples.
to begin with, as in today's society the race to success cannot be ignored as everyone wants to do best in their lives. education is considered as the only pathway to achieve your goal. as seeing the competition around every corner of the world, parents want their children to do well in school. for the same, they provide their children with every support and facility needed. Being educated gives them a lot privilege over others. it's quite understandable as to survive in this modern world, an individual should be well educated and knowledgeable to afford bread and butter. For example, most of the well reputed job opportunities require a good level of education such as a bachelor's or master's degree.
on the other side, making children just focused on studies could affect their mental wellbeing which could cause serious outcomes. Physical education is also important for overall health of a child. being mentally and emotionally fit would make them feel good inside and out. Physical activities give them a chance to look for their bodies and build strength and endurance in them.
In my perspective, both are required for a child to do good or even excellence as academics make them successful in professional lifestyle and physical education as it makes them healthy I personal lifestyle. A sound mind resides in a healthy body. Children need both learnings side by side to become an intelligent and healthy adult.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both the importance of academics and physical education, and provides a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, though some points, such as the discussion on mental wellbeing, could be further extended with more specific examples to reach a higher band. The position is maintained throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively synthesizes the two viewpoints. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph contains a more detailed explanation or a concrete example to fully develop the arguments presented.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'to begin with', 'on the other side', and 'for example', which help guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes a bit mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences could be smoother. The referencing is generally clear, but the overall progression of ideas could be more sophisticated to achieve a higher band score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'endurance' and 'well-reputed', but the range is somewhat limited. Some phrases are slightly informal or repetitive, such as 'afford bread and butter' and 'do good or even excellence'. To improve, the writer should focus on using more precise academic collocations and avoiding informal idioms to enhance the overall tone of the essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent errors in punctuation, such as the lack of capitalization at the start of sentences and after full stops. There are also minor grammatical slips, such as 'the point of views' instead of 'the points of view' and 'look for their bodies' instead of 'look after their bodies'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a greater variety of error-free complex structures.
