Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding physical education is supported by a brief mention of Milkha Singh, but the connection to the broader educational context is not fully explored. The discussion on academic subjects is also quite general, focusing on basic utility rather than a deeper analysis of why they might be prioritized. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed reasoning and clearer examples that directly support your stance on the balance between physical and academic education.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Apart from above', and 'All in all' to signal the structure. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Apart from above, if i talk about other subjects'. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect your arguments more fluidly. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs needs more refinement to ensure a smoother reading experience.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'games subject', 'remain on their books', and 'physical approach in life'. Some words are used incorrectly, such as 'lethargic life' or 'onself'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated vocabulary and the presence of errors in collocation prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary to express your ideas.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Few people believes'), missing articles ('child education', 'math is the subject'), and punctuation errors (spaces before commas). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent and occur in almost every sentence. To improve, you need to focus on basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with verb forms, articles, and sentence punctuation. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring they are error-free will also help improve your score in this criterion.
