Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many people opine that physical education play a vital role in student's life while others say academics should be priority in schools. I believe that Physical activities are essential as well long with the studies.

Firstly, individuals think that physical education has ample of benefits which helps children to rejuvienate their mind. To explain it, if tutees play physical sports, it will help them to unburden the stress of study and provide them active energy. Moreover, it is important for learners to be physically fit to learn something as games keep children away from diseases such as obesity. Another cardinal factor is that physical education gives opportunities to build career in future. For example, most of the international level player start their gaming career through school games.

On the other hand, rest of the community believes that only academics should be the major concentration. To elaborate it, physical classes are cause of distraction in school hours as some of the average students only go for sports in schools. Additionally, they are not able to do well in academics which leads to lower grades. For instance, according to a survey in school it is concluded that majority of sport kids are average in their studies.

In conclusion, it seems to me that physical education and academics has equal significance in children's life. Thus, physical health is crucial to be mentally stable because it helps children to refresh their mind after having a hectic schedule of studies.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the response falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement (245 words), which negatively impacts the task achievement score. While the ideas are relevant, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding sports as a distraction is a good point, but it lacks depth and specific evidence beyond a vague reference to a 'survey'. To improve, you should expand on your examples and ensure you meet the minimum word count to fully develop your arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' to link your points. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as 'rest of the community' to refer to those who prioritize academics. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the overall structure is easy to follow, but more sophisticated linking words would enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'rejuvenate', 'cardinal factor', and 'hectic'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'ample of benefits' (should be 'ample benefits'), 'active energy', and 'sport kids' (should be 'sporty children' or 'student athletes'). There is also a spelling error: 'rejuvienate'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring your vocabulary is used in the correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('physical education play' instead of 'plays'), article usage ('in student's life' instead of 'in a student's life'), and pluralization errors ('international level player' instead of 'players'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to limit the score. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article consistency.
