Student answer (Band 6.0)

Physical Education should be taught at schools, however some people think that only academic courses are necessary and need to be focus on it.

This essay agrees with the former view and will show that, despite some concerns about its effects on a major subjects, learning physical education is essential for children's mental as well as physical well-being.

It is often argued that learners need to learn the academic courses such as Mathematics, Science, and History. These are the subjects that would assist them in future to pursue the jobs in different realms, conclusively a higher focus is required to pass the courses with efficient grades. For example, Mathematics needs for time to understand the question and solve it. Moreover self-study is not an option to study this subject, teachers play an essential role in teaching students because every parent is not able to educate them about solving mathematical problems.

Learning physical education in schools is a positive development, where the students participate in various activities such as games, and yoga. It not only helps in attaining good physique but also improves mental health. For instance, most of the schools provide health education to their educators which results in produce stress free students and also broaden their horizons to improve their scores in other areas of study.

In conclusion, although academic are more important to learn, I believe physical education should be a compulsory subject which would help children to reduce stress and as a result their productivity would be increased to learn easily.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the importance of academic subjects is discussed, the explanation of why physical education is essential could be more deeply explored beyond general health benefits. The conclusion introduces a new point about 'viral diseases' and 'obesity' which was not previously mentioned in the body paragraphs, making the argument feel slightly disjointed. To reach a higher band, ensure that all main points are introduced and developed within the body paragraphs rather than adding new information in the conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'For instance', and 'In conclusion' are used to link sentences and paragraphs. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the phrase 'the former view' which is slightly ambiguous given the structure of the introduction. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the final paragraph is quite short and lacks the depth required to fully synthesise the arguments presented earlier.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to convey their meaning clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'pursue the jobs in different realms' and 'broaden their horizons'. However, there are instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'need to be focus on it' (should be 'focused on') and 'results in produce' (should be 'results in producing'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'academic are more important' (should be 'academics' or 'academic subjects'), 'Mathematics needs for time' (should be 'requires time'), and 'every parent is not able' (should be 'not every parent is able'). These errors are noticeable and occur in both simple and complex constructions, though they rarely prevent the reader from understanding the intended message.
