Student answer (Band 6.5)
Some people believe the physical education classes plays a crucial role in a child's education. It helps a child to boost overall fitness and flexibility of their body. Even, today's medical research shows that a child who actively participates in physical activities has a sharp mind comparing to those who doesn't participate.
A fit body is a doorway to sharp, and an intelligent mind. It helps in enhancing a child's logical reasoning skills, also solving real-life day to day problems. A recent Oxford study states that children who actively participates in physical education classes, has 90% less chances of mental health problems in their lifetime in comparison to children who are not physically active.
However, some people believe that in today's cut throat competition, it is important to focus on academics instead of physical education classes. Due to the rise in population, competition are also rising in every field. Therefore, most parents are not keen to enroll their children in physical activities classes. In fact, some people consider physical education classes as waste of time and money. They are more invested in enrolling their children into extra classes to enhance their child's focus on academics which will help in scoring extra marks.
In my opinion, physical education classes, and academics are like two wheels of a bike. Compromising on any one, will bring the bike to a halt. Physical education classes helps a child in boosting body's immunity, flexibility, and mental health. Physical activity acts like an facilitator by helping a child in improving concentration, focus, and memory which are must needed skills for scoring good marks in academics.
Concluding, physical education acts like a fuel for an academic bike. Parents must consider both for overall development of their child.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both the importance of physical education and the focus on academics, while clearly stating your position. The ideas are relevant and generally well-supported, such as the mention of mental health benefits and the 'two wheels of a bike' analogy. However, the development of the academic argument could be more nuanced; for instance, you could explain why some parents prioritize academics beyond just 'scoring extra marks.' Overall, the position is consistent throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively synthesizes the main points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph has a central theme, and you use transition words like 'However,' 'Therefore,' and 'In fact' to connect your thoughts. While the structure is sound, some cohesive devices feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. For example, the transition between the benefits of physical education and the counter-argument is clear, but the internal flow within paragraphs could be improved by varying the sentence connectors. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints and your personal opinion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'cut-throat competition,' 'overall development,' and 'facilitator.' There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'physical education classes plays' (should be 'play') and 'must needed skills' (should be 'much-needed'). While you attempt to use more sophisticated vocabulary, some phrasing feels slightly unnatural. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring that word forms are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'classes plays,' 'competition are,' 'child... has,' 'children... participates'). These errors are noticeable but do not impede communication. Punctuation is generally handled well, though there are some unnecessary commas, such as in 'sharp, and an intelligent mind.' Increasing the frequency of error-free complex sentences will help improve your score in this criterion.
