Student answer (Band 6.0)

People have different views, whether physical education is crucial in school or not. Although some people believe that physical education is significant in school for children, according to my perspective, science, maths, physics and Hindi are also more pivotal in school.

On the one hand, there are several reasons associated why physical education an important rather than other subjects. First and foremost, by reading physical education, children can aware not only about health but also exercise. To explain, if school children would more attention on academic subject, they can deprived to learn moral skills such as teamwork, communication and problem solving because physical education helps them to learn these important skills in school. In addition to it, it helps them to get relief from study because most of parents pressurise the children to do more study to get better marks, they may suffer with anxiety and depression. Thus, physical education is crucial in school.

On the other hand, despite the physical education classes, i think that other subjects are more productive for students due to several reasons. Firstly, in these days, due to more competition, children need to more focus on important subjects like maths, physics. Because, when they would more concentrate on that subjects, they can achieve wonderful grade as a result they would not only gain their knowledge but also obtain better job in future, in turn of which they have no need to look after in order to cater their fundamental needs. In addition to it, school is the base of school children if they focus on that subjects, they can develop their interest and know about the favourite subjects which want to study in future.

To conclude, while physical education is an important class in school, i opinion that other subjects are more necessary in schools for children better future due to more competitive in every field.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention teamwork and stress relief for physical education, and career prospects for academic subjects, the arguments lack depth and specific examples. For instance, the point about 'moral skills' is introduced but not fully explained or illustrated with a concrete example. To reach a higher band, ensure that each main idea is supported by a clear explanation and a relevant, detailed example. The position is consistent throughout, but the overall development remains at a basic level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Firstly', and 'To conclude' to signal the structure. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as 'in turn of which' or 'in addition to it'. Additionally, some sentences are poorly linked, making the flow feel slightly disjointed. Improving the variety and precision of your linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'that subjects') is clear will help improve the flow and logical connection between your ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'important subjects' and 'in school'. There are also some noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'reading physical education' (should be 'studying' or 'participating in') and 'they can deprived to learn' (should be 'they may be deprived of learning'). To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition. Expanding your range to include less common lexical items related to education and career development would also be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'most of parents pressurise'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'if school children would more attention'), and missing articles or prepositions. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like tense consistency and pluralisation to ensure your writing is more accurate.
