Student answer (Band 6.0)

Physical education in children's study has always been a debatable issue. While some people believe that its been an integral part of students' education, others think that staying focused on academics is more important for children. This essay will elucidate both views and i will give my opinion in the end.

on the one hand, there are several reasons for people who believe that the children in school's should only focus on their academics rather than participating in other physical education. The first one is the value of academics in today's world. every parents wants their child to be successful in their lives. for that they needs to pay more attention to their academic subjects, such as mathematics, social Science, and many more. for example if anyone wants to be a doctor or engineer, he must have a very good knowledge of science and mathematics. thats why spending more time on academics could help children in achieving their goals.

on the other hand, physical activies are also equally important as the academics are for the proper development of children. it is not only beneficial for the physical health as children gets involved in activities such as running, bending, kneeling but also it helps them to reduce their mental stress and help them concentrate more and make them more productive. For example, a survey has been conducted recently by Harvard University, which shows that the children who were involved in some physical movements in their early age along with their academics, tend to be more productive, smart and confident than those who were not. therefore, physical activities are equally important.

in my opinion, schools should make balanced timetables for children to study as well as take part in extracurricular activities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task, discussing both perspectives and providing a clear opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the focus on academic success for future careers and the mental/physical benefits of exercise. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding academic focus could be further extended by discussing the pressure of competitive university admissions. The conclusion is brief and could be more robustly integrated with the preceding arguments. Overall, the response meets the requirements of the prompt but lacks the depth of analysis required for a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'on the one hand', 'on the other hand', and 'therefore', which help guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are issues with paragraphing and sentence-level flow. For example, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph is abrupt. Additionally, the lack of capitalization at the start of sentences (e.g., 'on the one hand', 'every parents') disrupts the flow and makes the text appear less professional.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'elucidate' and 'integral', which is positive. However, there are recurring errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'physical education in children's study' (should be 'curriculum') and 'every parents wants' (subject-verb agreement error). The range is sufficient to communicate the message, but the lack of precision and the presence of basic errors prevent a higher score. More varied vocabulary related to education and health would improve the quality.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally distract the reader. Common issues include capitalization errors ('on the one hand', 'in my opinion'), subject-verb agreement ('every parents wants', 'children gets'), and punctuation mistakes. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors indicate a lack of control over complex structures. To improve, the student should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly regarding pluralization, verb agreement, and sentence-initial capitalization.
