Student answer (Band 6.0)
A large number of people believe that it is essential to provide physical education classes for perfect growth of kids while others claim that the focus should be on academic subjects only. In my opinion, both plays a crucial role in children's lives. My essay aims at discussing both viewpoints and reasons behind my choice.
On the one hand, physical education is something that not only helps the students to keep themselves fit but stress free also. To elaborate it, nowadays kids love to spend most of their time on electronic gadgets which leads them to be lazy. But physical education helps them to be active and play around. On top of it, it allows them to take a break from the lengthy subjects for a time which can help them to reduce the stress. Moreover, its theory part teaches them the importance of keeping their bodies healthy. Another prominent point is that physical education allows learners to play various games which paves a path for some of them to be an incredible player in one game or another which can be a win-win situation .
On the another hand, for some kids physical education lectures can be a barrier in their studies as a lot of academic subjects require them to study for hours in order to understand them. To be more precise, if they focus more on the physical education periods then there is a possibility for them to loose their study time as well as energy.
In conclusion, although physical education can be a drawback for loosing study time but its merits overweigh the demerits. I think that both physical and academic education are undoubtedly important for learners.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both viewpoints and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the benefits of physical activity for health and the potential distraction from academic studies. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding academic focus could be further extended with specific examples of how physical education might impact performance in core subjects. The position is consistent throughout, but the depth of analysis remains at a general level, which prevents it from reaching the higher bands.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the another hand,' and 'In conclusion,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. Additionally, there are minor issues with referencing and flow; for example, the phrase 'On the another hand' is grammatically incorrect and disrupts the natural progression of the argument. Overall, the logical flow is sufficient to follow the writer's train of thought, but it lacks the sophisticated, unobtrusive cohesion required for higher bands.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common phrases like 'paves a path' and 'win-win situation.' However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'perfect growth of kids' (better: 'holistic development of children') and 'loosing study time' (should be 'losing'). These errors do not impede communication, but they indicate a need for more precise control over vocabulary and spelling to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'both plays a crucial role' (should be 'both play'), 'stress free also' (word order), and 'merits overweigh' (should be 'outweigh'). Punctuation is also inconsistent in places. The writer demonstrates an ability to construct complex sentences, but the frequency of errors in basic grammar and subject-verb agreement prevents the writing from being considered consistently accurate.
