Student answer (Band 6.0)
While some people debate that it is vital for a child to focus on studies alone during school session, In my opinion, I believe that physical education classes is a vital part of a child's education. In this essay, I will be discussing both views and also giving my opinion.
On one hand it is important for a child to prioritize their education during school session as it makes them more focused and concentrated on their studies which will lead to academic success. Furthermore recent studies conducted by the education research unit claimed that 85% of school students who have distinctions on their grades were said to have given their studies a 100% attention.
On the other hand, It keeps a child fit and healthy and also creates a school - life balance. Additional much it is believed that a child's needs full concentration in their academics in order to achieve excellence, I believe that the mental, emotional and physical aspect of their lives is very vital to their academic progression and success. A research was carried out by graduate students of child learning at the prestigious university of Pennsylvania where it was believed that mental and physical exhaustion is the leading cause of brain drain in children.
In my opinion, physical education class is greatly important and should be part of a child's education because it keeps them physically and mentally fit as well as exposes them to a school life balance at an early stage. I believe that this exposure is also a form of outside classroom education that cannot be over emphasised.
In conclusion, while we encourage absolute concentration on a child's academics during school session, however, creating balance should be encouraged.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the focus on academic success versus the benefits of physical health and school-life balance. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'brain drain' is introduced but not fully explained in the context of how physical education specifically mitigates this. The position is consistent throughout, but the supporting evidence, while present, lacks depth. To improve, ensure that each supporting point is elaborated upon with more detailed reasoning or specific examples rather than just stating the point.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. There is a logical progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'In conclusion,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'Additional much it is believed.' Additionally, the use of referencing could be improved to ensure smoother flow between sentences. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal cohesion within the paragraphs could be strengthened by using a wider variety of linking words and better sentence-to-sentence connectivity.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'distinctions,' 'academic progression,' and 'over emphasised.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'debate that it is vital' (should be 'argue') and 'school session' (which is slightly unnatural in this context). The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but more precise and varied vocabulary would elevate the response. Spelling is generally accurate, but the phrasing occasionally feels repetitive or slightly unnatural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('physical education classes is') and punctuation errors (unnecessary commas and capitalization issues like 'It' in the middle of a sentence). The use of 'however' in the final sentence is redundant given the preceding 'while.' Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout the text. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to focus on improving the accuracy of complex structures and ensuring consistent subject-verb agreement and punctuation.
