Student answer (Band 6.0)

over the past few years, it has been witnessed that a part of population feels that physical activity is crucial for youth's study whereas some has a completely different view as they believe scholarly learning is more imperative comparatively. this essay will articulate about both thinking.

to commence with the most compelling reason that why physical heath is vital for kids is that it not only builds a good physique but also develops a good mental health. for an instance, if a person achieves everything but still mentally unstable, then it is if no benefit. moreover i feel a good health leads to a good and a long lifestyle. none the less, during the times of pandemic the only thing which helped everyone to overcome the disease was a good healthy life not only the grades.

however, some individuals strongly affirms that academics is way more pivotal for children life. as it creates a secured future by opening multifarious opportunities in the career. moreover, most of the students already have some ideas in mind related to the future living, which could only be achieved by good academic standing.

to sum up, i personally reckon that although study builds up a person's future securely but it somehow fails to teach some basic practical morals including leadership and discipline. due to which i believe that a balance should be made of both the aspects carefully and sagaciously.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the essay is under the 250-word minimum requirement, which limits the depth of the arguments. While the ideas are relevant, they are somewhat underdeveloped; for instance, the point about the pandemic is a bit tangential and could have been better linked to the necessity of physical education. To reach a higher band, you need to expand on your points with more specific examples and ensure the essay meets the minimum length requirement to allow for full development of your ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'to commence with', 'moreover', and 'to sum up'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'if a person achieves everything but still mentally unstable, then it is if no benefit', where the connection between ideas is slightly disjointed. Improving the variety and natural flow of your linking words would enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items like 'imperative', 'multifarious', and 'sagaciously'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'a part of population' (should be 'a part of the population') and 'children life' (should be 'children's lives'). Some phrasing is also slightly unnatural, such as 'articulate about both thinking'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over vocabulary and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('some individuals strongly affirms'), missing articles ('a part of population'), and punctuation errors. Some sentences are also structurally incomplete or awkward, such as 'the only thing which helped everyone to overcome the disease was a good healthy life not only the grades'. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would be beneficial.
