Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is an undeniable fact that education is a very important to shape students because they are the future of the society. It is often debated whether physical education sessions are necessary for the children's education or they should be more focused in academics in schools. Although physical education offers several benefits such as good social skills and physically fit students, I strongly believe that academics are important for more career opportunities.
To begin with, physical education is a crucial because it gives a healthy lifestyle to children. As children make involvements in games, they become active in daily life. Consequently, they remain disease free in a life. To cite an example, an increasing number of schools in China are adding more physical subjects into school curriculum in order to provide more knowledge to their students about the significance of active lifestyle. Moreover, social skills can be improved by physical activities. When students take a charge to become leader in games, they get to know about team management, coordination, and communication skills. So, it is considered as a positive development for students in schools.
However, some people support that only academic study should be delivered in schools because they feel that is more important for students. As core subjects like mathematics and science help to improve knowledge, students get a chance to gain knowledge. As a result, these subjects provide not only stable employment but also path to grow in the future. Apart from this, people think that physical activities can be happened outside the schools. Children normally have free time after school, which they can use for playing. Eventually, games in schools can waste study time of students .
In conclusion, while physical education gives a chance to learn about active lifestyle, academics provide better career options for future. In my opinion both have their own significance value, so both equally considered important for students.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views and providing a clear opinion. The position is consistent throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding academics is supported by general statements about employment, but it lacks specific, well-developed examples compared to the physical education section. While the conclusion attempts to balance the two views, the transition from the body paragraphs to the final opinion could be more nuanced to fully justify why both are considered equally important. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, but further elaboration on the benefits of academics would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Consequently', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' are used effectively to guide the reader through the argument. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and some referencing is a bit repetitive. For example, the phrase 'gain knowledge' is used twice in close proximity within the third paragraph. Despite these minor issues, the progression of ideas is clear, and the paragraphing is appropriate for the task.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally sufficient to convey the intended meaning, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are some awkward collocations, such as 'make involvements in games' (should be 'participate in games') and 'physical activities can be happened' (should be 'can take place'). While the student uses some relevant topic-specific vocabulary like 'curriculum', 'coordination', and 'stable employment', the overall lexical range is somewhat limited. To improve, the student should focus on more natural collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'education is a very important to shape' (extra 'a'), 'they remain disease free in a life' (unnatural phrasing), and 'both equally considered important' (missing 'are'). Punctuation is generally accurate, but the control over complex structures is inconsistent. The student demonstrates an ability to use complex sentences, but these are often marred by minor errors in verb tense or word order.
