Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you address both sides of the argument and provide a personal opinion, the discussion is underdeveloped. For instance, the points regarding mental health and career options are mentioned but not sufficiently explained or supported with detailed examples. The position is clear, but the lack of depth and the brevity of the response prevent a higher score. To improve, you must expand on your arguments with more detailed reasoning and specific examples to ensure the essay is fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay has a basic structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed. While you use some cohesive devices like 'To commence with' and 'To conclude', the transitions between sentences are sometimes abrupt or unclear. The paragraphing is present but the internal logic within paragraphs is weak, particularly in the second body paragraph where the ideas about exam schedules feel disconnected from the main argument. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus will help improve the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms such as 'important', 'study', and 'games'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'physical activities classes' instead of 'physical education classes' and 'discontinue this' which is slightly unnatural in this context. To achieve a higher band score, you should aim to incorporate a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary related to education and health, and focus on using more precise synonyms to avoid repetition and improve the sophistication of your expression.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'physical activities classes is'), missing articles, and incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'it helps to developed'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and improper comma usage. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often inaccurate. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect verb tenses before submitting your work.
